What did you eat after the birth? - Page 4

I birthed at home, so I could eat during if I wanted, but I nibbled mostly and had recharge. Then after 18 hrs of labor, they asked me what I wanted and I asked for a roast beef sandwich, chips, coke and 2 advil!

Then we went downstairs and had birthday cake(it was DH's birthday by then)

YUMLICIOUS!!!

I remember pizza after my first. A yogurt drink & donuts after my second. And I don't remember what after my 3rd & 4th (twins) were born. I think I had a harder time feeling hungry b/c of the hemmorage. Oh, I know I always did the OJ thing.

my brother's gf had a list of what I wanted and brought it over right after the birth - baguette, shaved ham, camembert cheese, olive tapenade and grapes. Fantastic! (note all the stuff you aren't supposed to eat while pregnant!)

this will be my first homebirth so I'll be sure to put in a special request with the hubs.

With my first two I delivered at the same hospital and remember that right after they put me in my recovery room (no IV, etc. and no drugs so I was alert) I was pushing to have the menu given to me. I ordered the same meal with both despite one being at around 10pm and the other at 5:30am. Large juice cheeseburger with bacon and the works, home cut fries, coca cola, and a large piece of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Downed it in record time while my husband giggled at my "priorities".

Home delivery is for pizza and home delivery... the pizza guy came while I was pushing, so I tried to be quiet until he was gone! I had a big slice of cheese pizza right after I birthed the placenta. I was STARVING!

A friend brought Chinese take out (from my favorite place) for everyone. I only remember eating some fried rice but it hit the spot.

mmmm, now i want chinese.

dd was born in the hospital. after she was born dp went down to frulatti (i guess that was in the hospital?) and got me a smoothie and an egg and cheese bagel.

ds was born at home around 5pm and dp went in and made me beans and rice and guacamole. that was the best ever.

After the first birth I had a burrito, after the 2nd one I had some cheese(I had eaten a few slices of pizza just before birth, so I didn't really eat afterwards).

I don't remember with the first I think jello err hospitals! and the 2nd was a hospital birth too. First meal was breakfast and it was seriously best food ever I ate every single bite. Toast, fruit, eggs, bacon and I think jam too. I remember wishing there was more and it was huge haha

and the next day when they brought out the "regular" food = gross food... hubby went to olive garden and brought back a huge salad and breadsticks and what was SO good!!!

Yay, after 70 posts, I can be unusual.

Well, dd was a hosiptal birth. We had friends who diligently waited, and saw us when dd was born. We wound up with 2 hospital dinners and some local burger fare (In-N-Out). Ds was a UC homebirth. On the grill was some carne asada at the time. So that's what I had. My MW thought it was a great meal.

I delivered at 6:10 am, so by the time we got all cleaned up it was our usual breakfast time. My dad made us all cheese omelets with toast and juice. It was very nice.

I honestly don't recall, other than the "Bloody Mother Mary" cocktail of spicy V-8 and placenta whirred together in the blender.
That admittedly gross-sounding cocktail was the best discovery ever for a nearly magical lift from post-partum late-afternoon draggies and mood swings. It worked so well and made me feel so much better, almost nurtured and magically cushioned from raw nerves, that I still have the last little chunk of placenta in the freezer just in case I ever need it again (probably won't). I just can't bear to throw it out, even though I know if I don't use it it will eventually be worthless. Wish I had had the nerve to consume placenta daily after my first birth! Definitely will do it again if there's a next time!

with ds i was in a freestanding birth center and a resturaunt I used to work in was nearbye.. so we ordered food to go from there and my dad went to pick it up, they gave it to us for free I ate a blue cheese, veggie, brie and basil mayo sandwich, then some spinach pasta dish.

with dd i was at home and asked for abgel with cream cheese immediatly after, i was starving. dh thought it was weird i wanted food so soon. it was about 1am and i was sooo hungry!
