Spinoff- How big were your twins and how much did you gain? - Page 2

I followed her advice pretty closely (not her diet exactly but her weight gain guidelines). I started out on the "underweight" side for her (5' 8 1/2" and 123 lbs.) and gained 60 lbs. My girls were born at 38w3d and weighed 6 lbs. 13 oz. and 7 lbs. 1 oz.

I think the Dr. Luke diet works. I ate 120 grams of protein and followed her other recommendations. I went to 39 weeks and had twins that were 7 lbs 4 oz each. I gained 80 pounds.

My twin weighed 7-5 and 7-4. I don't really focus on weight gain during pg, so I'm not entirely sure, but I measured the same as I did with my singleton until 30 weeks (one of the reasons I didn't know I was carrying twins). I guess I must have weighed around the same as well? In the end, I gained a total of 55 lbs. I just looked that up on my dr. records. I never read Dr. Luke's book but from what I've heard it has sound advice. I think if you eat healthy, focus on taking in a lot of water and protein, use quality supplements (RRL tea, prenatals, fish oil, etc.) you will do fine. Try not to worry about the actual weight gain. Best to you!

ETA: Mine were born at 39wks +5days. And now that I read the other responses, I have to say that I can't see how McDonald's would be good for anyone, least of all a pg mama! An occassional indulgence if that's what you like? Fine, but to advocate it as healthy? I can't agree with that.

Don't worry about your small weight gain so far. I actually lost 5 lbs in the first tri due to m/s and then between weeks 13-19 gained 20 lbs! I'm at almost 30 weeks now and have gained around 35 (including the 5 I had to re-gain), all in my belly - no swelling or extra chubby elsewhere. I have not read Dr. Luke's book, though I am eating plenty of protein and healthy veggies and fruits and whole grains only while avoiding sugar and food items that don't have much nutritional value (that means no fast food here - I just don't do that in general). I think that eating a healthy, varied diet is most important, and drinking plenty of water.... hopefully I'll make it to 37+ as lots of other ladies here have done!

Good luck to you and welcome!

I gained 17 pounds, delivered my twins at 38w3d, and they were 6lbs 12oz and 6lbs 8oz.

I was down 18 pounds 24 hours later, and 50 pounds by the time they were 3 weeks old.

I was about 60ish pounds overweight when I got pg with them.

I gained 38lbs, the girls were 5lbs .6oz and 5lbs, 6 oz. They were born at 34 weeks

Mine were born at 38 weeks, anad were 6.3 and 7.12 lbs. I gained 70 pounds, but as some have said here, I gained 50 with my singleton-so I just do big with pregnancy!

I gained 41 lbs, the babies were 6lbs 2 oz & 6lbs 5 oz at 36 weeks.

My babies aren't born yet, but yesterday our 34 week u/s estimated them at 5 and 5-7. I'm so excited!!! We were high-risk, cerclage at 22 weeks, lots of issues. NEVER thought we make it this far.

I do attribute at least some of this positive outcome to the Luke book. I didn't follow her diet to the letter (what's with all those amino acids tables?!), but I did follow the weight gain rec's and pushed the protein and water. I'm glad I ate so well and rested throughout the second tri because now it's hard to get all the calories in. I've gained 55 lbs so far.

As for the fast food, I appreciated the flexibility. I generally do not like fast food and think it is not a good choice nutritionally, but to be able to pick up an Egg McMuffin or a Frosty was a nice treat. Not everyday, not even every week, but better to indulge in a "treat" than stress out even more. I'm sure the babies took what worked for them and the rest ended up in my thighs...

I did not follow her diet, but I did try to keep up with the weight gain. I gained 60lbs. started at 140lbs (I'm 5'6"), and tried to eat a protein shake every day, but I have no idea how many grams or anything. My babes were born at 39w3d and weighed 6lbs 12oz and 6lbs 14oz.

34w5d

Gained 35 lbs.

5 lb 9 oz and 4 lb 12 oz.

I had them at 39w5d and I think I might have gained around 30 pounds. I was overweight to begin with, though, and had hyperemesis. I pushed the protein like crazy after 32 weeks after switching to a MW, on her recommendation. I think it really did help, my husband proudly tells everyone I kept them in so long because they were so well fed :

Twins were born at 36 weeks 5 days and weighed 5 pounds 13 ounces and 6 pounds 3 ounces. I gained 25 pounds.
I followed a gluten/casein free diet but monitored what I needed closely.

My guys were both 5 lbs 6 oz and were born at 36w1d. Both completely healthy and we left the hospital the next day. I gained 31 pounds. I read a little of the diet, but found that it made me feel guilty if I wasn't following it. So I just tried to make everything I ate count. I didn't eat junk, sugar or fast food. My snacks were healthy and full of protein. I made protein smoothies and just tried to get as much good food in me as possible. And also tried to drink as much water as possible.

I gained 50 lbs on the dot. My twins were 6 lb 7 oz and 6 lb 3 oz at 38 weeks + 1 day.

I didn't find out we had twins till 19 weeks. At that point I began following the diet and ate 145-165grams of protien per day meticulously.

I gained 53 pounds
Babies were born at 39 weeks 7lbs4oz and 7lbs6oz

no blood pressure, toxemia, or pre term labor concerns of any kind

I lost all the twin weight by 7months without even trying.
