DD and I are stuck in the hospital right now. We're on day 8 of a probably 10-11 day stay to get DD on a feeding tube. We are still weaning off breastfeeding (FTT, extreme food allergies- not curable by a TED) and I am pumping to donate since I was making over 60 ounces a day prior to this admission. Now, for a few days, I had to completely not nurse and didn't tink we'd be allowed any more nursing time, and they were aware I was not nursing my own child but was still pumping to donate and relieve engorgement...And they give me 5$ in cafeteria bucks every day for doing so...even though it doesn't save them money (they still have to put formula through her feeding tube), because I am breastfeeding, I get help with my meals. I was totally impressed...Apparently its with the help of CMN and in combination with Shands Children's hospital. They also sent down an awesome LC who tried to help us find ways to get her to at least drink a bit fo her feeds and made sure that the drs. weren't forcing me to wean wrongly. I have been totally impressed with the breastfeeding support and friendliness in this hospital =) They've made a very taxing venture so much better and have allowed me to talk about breastfeeding so openly that I think a few of the younger nurses and staff and parents will be moved to try BFing after hearin the staff talk with us (And seeing the cuteness that is my Squeak
) I just had to give them props for their amazing lactivism
