Hair. Oh the Hair.

I, for some inexplicable reason, shed like a mad woman. I mean, I seriously don't know how I have any left on my head. My hair permeates every aspect of my house. It clogs the drains, the vacuum, the laundry, and running my havd across the carpet any time, any spot, will yield me a hair ball the size of my hand. The baby's sleepers come out of the laundry covered in hair. I have to be very careful or we wind up eating hair. You don't even want to think about my bathroom floor.

Since it seems I can't do anything about the hair loss, I'm looking for ideas as to how to clean up this mess. how do I get all the hairs off the sleepers? Out of the carpet? Right now I spend a very, very long time picking hairs individually out of sleepers (and sweat shirts and socks...) and using the attachment hose on the vacuum for the carpet, but the hose doesn't do a very good job and I quite simply don't have time to pick all the hairs out manually!

Do you think a sticky lint brush thingy might do the trick? Maybe a piece of packing tape? Any other brilliant ideas or inventions that I should be made aware of? I'm ready to shave it all off. I already cut 8 or so inches to lessen the amount but it hasn't helped all that much.

I'm right there with you! My DH teases that I need to wear a hairnet around the house because the family is constantly finding my hair in strange (and not so strange) places. I don't have extremely long hair either, so it doesn't make sense to me.

Hoping someone can help us.....

Maybe it's a postpartum thing, cause I shed like mad as well. Soooo... hairnets, anyone?

Me too.

Have you tried tying your hair back and braiding it at night? It really helps keep the hair in the bathroom.
I have a net in my bathroom drain.
Hardwood floors.
Swiffer.
I use a really stiff brush like a rake on my oriental rug to the sticky cat fur off.

That! I was just wondering why my hair doesn't get everywhere--it's waist-length and red, so it's pretty visible--and I realised that while I used to wear it down all the time, I usually have it braided, bunned or tied back nowadays. It literally can't escape. If you keep your hair contained, it'll seem like you're shedding masses when you brush/comb it, but that's okay. Brush your hair outside and the birds can use it to make nests! (Or if you compost, human hair's a great fertilizer--chuck it on the pile. Very good for rose bushes, I believe).

Unfortunately I got it all cut off and it's about chin length now so braiding is not really an option anymore. It was almost waist length and I had hoped that getting it cut off would help with the shedding but it ain't so.

My house is all carpet downstairs, although I do have hardwood upstairs and it's not as bad up there.

At least I'm not alone.

Ah, okay. Sorry, I didn't realise it was that short. Sadly, cutting hair doesn't really help with the shedding, because you still have the same number of hairs on your head and they fall out at the same rate! (Although at least with shorter hair, it's usually easier to blame it on somebody else...).

Maybe you'd look cute in a multitude of little pigtails.

you could go even shorter... how about a buzz cut?

I find that combing my hair in the bathroom and not in any other room really helps to keep most of the hairs contained.

works good for animal hair, an old converse tennis shoe rubbed over carpet really works on gathering hair and lint. that's on your knees work and okay every now and then but a backbreaking solution long term.
