I know not everyone believes in u/s, but for some of us, they're necessary.

But no matter what our feelings on them, I know we all like to see the bitty babes!

So I thought it might be nice to have a thread of just our u/s pictures - so as you get them, post away!

so from the cross to the cross is the baby? What is that bulging out thing in the middle? Thanks for posting your pic. Now I have an idea of what my baby looks like at this stage.

yup - cross to cross is baby

the bulging thingie is the yolk sac

here's a close up of the baby

if you look at the left cross, that tiny black dot is the eye! the black hole in middle of the crosses is the heart and the last little "bump" at the right cross is what is left of the baby's tail

5w5d U/S
The yolk sac and fetal pole are labled. The red area in the middle of the fetal pole is the U/S picking up the heart beat and associated blood flow.

WOW!!! Thanks for sharing ladies, other than this darn constant nausea, it still seems so unreal to me sometimes, and it's cool to know what my little bean looks like!

Thanks! One thing I cannot complain about with my OBs office is their U/S machine They JUST got a brand-spankin' new top of the line machine. The room even has an overhead screen for the mom to see what's going on. I know not everyone is keen on U/Ss, but having had three miscarriages, it makes me feel SO much better to see my little one is doing ok.

What lovely little beans everyone has!! Thanks for sharing your pics. (I am using a birthing center, and I don't think I get an ultrasound until 20 weeks, so its really exciting to see all of yours!)

were all these u/s done vaginally? Would that way be the only way to get a good look at this young an age? I had one done over the belly and I'm worried that a heartbeat was not picked up. If this is normal then I won't be worried as much.

Early u/s are much more accurate when done vaginally. How far along are you?

technically 7 weeks yesterday, although it's probably more like 6 wks 3 days yesterday because of my ovulation day. the nurse did say that at this point in development every minute can make a difference because it is so early. i'm holding on to that hope.

I'm surprised they didn't do a vaginal ultrasound that early, it seems like the other way wouldn't show anything. If you want one, I would ask that they do another one vaginally, if for nothing else than peace of mind.

oh cynthia - that's really weird that they did an abdominal and not a trans vag one! sometimes it's hard to pick up a h/b with a transvag, much less an ab one!

Wow thanks for sharing your beautiful beans!

We are 4th on a waiting list for a m/w so I think it's going to be a while before our u/s.
