Is it a cavity?

Ds is going to be 8 in a few months. He has had a few molars come through the past several months ~ the bottom molars are not quite completely erupted. The top molars have completely erupted.

I was looking at his teeth last night and saw a pink spot on the bottom of one of the top molars. It's on one of the molars that have erupted in the last 6 months to a year, so the tooth is relatively 'new'. I couldn't get a good enough look at it to see if it was an actual hole. Otherwise, his teeth are *so* clean and doesn't have any other tooth problems (ie - no plaque, build-up, etc).

Everything I've read about cavities says they usually start as a light brown spot. This isn't light brown. As a matter of fact, I thought it might be some of his gum and that the tooth wasn't all the way through, but the more I looked, I noticed the tooth has come through all the way.

Could it be a cavity?

What molars is he getting in? I have never heard of a 8 year old losing back molars, they usually lose those when they are 10-12 years.
Maybe he lost them very early? ind of rasies a red flag to me. Either way I would get it checked out. Did you try to brush it really good?

Only thing I could find about a pink spot on a tooth was this.

Best of luck to you.
