Ontario midwives won't take anyone over 35 - is this true?

That's what a friend of mine said I have a hard time believing that - or maybe I just don't want to believe it

If it is true, is it a hard rule, or do they take people on an individual basis after 35?

TOTALLY UNTRUE!!!!!

I've had clients as "old" as 47 years old!

THere is no reason why a woman over 35 years old would be denied a midwife...unless they were full that month, but that has nothing to do with age!

*Whew* oh good! I'm pretty sure the store is closed after 2, but I would hate to think that if we decided otherwise, we would either have to plan an *oops, couldn't make it to the hospital*, or go with an OB

Was this the original regulation? She said that she was doing research years ago, and the 35 year rule was there then, did it just change recently?

I don't think so. My mom had a baby ten years ago with Ontario midwives and she was 38.

No this is the way it has been since legislation...may it was a "rule" that doctors were trying to impose when they were making up the "rules"??...

Hope you get the midwives you wanted!
