Goldenseal for cord care

I went to the herb store to get some today. All they had was a bottle of 100 capsules for $40. I gather I don't need 100 capsules to care for the cord for a few days. Am I supposed to be buying powder or liquid?
Help!

Personally, I'd skip it. There are wildcrafting issues w/goldenseal, and IMO, my babies' cords have never needed anything other than to be left alone.

My others have had stinky cords and I had read that this would help. Any other ideas of how to deal with the stink? Would honey be ok?

Anytime I've seen a stinky cord, it wasn't allowed to dry enough. Nothing but sponge baths for baby until cord stump falls off, and stay away from the stump; keep diaper tucked away from stump; let baby air out some every day.

You can order 1/4 of an ounce from inhishands.com

That is where I get mine, and I use some of it for postpartum frozen pads with comfrey and uva ursi.

A few goldenseal capsules came in the birth kit I ordered.
