I was wondering if anyone has experience birthing after having cervical and/or lumbar disk herniations. I am 18wks pregnant, but had a back injury previously and have had chronic back pain 7 months before getting pregnant. I am a first time mommy and really wanting a drug-free homebirth! My midwives are wondering what they might be up against with my back... what kind of position for birthing might work best, do women that birth with disk herniations usually resort to epidurals (or are they precluded because then you'd have to labor on your back which might be worse for spine compression). Anyone have experience with this?
