is an unschooling forum still being considered?

About a year ago, someone proposed an unschooling forum, or subsection of the Learning at Home forum. There was much discussion but I don't remember hearing one way or another what the decision was. As of...October...(I believe?) it was still being considered by the administration.

Any determination yet?

I want to add that there has been a new unschooling thread every month, as it just gets too big and unweildy by then. I'm wondering if we shouldn't start making them every week, they get unweildy long before the month is out!

I'll also put in my plea for an unschooling forum!

I love the support thread but within days I feel lost in it. There are many conversations going on at once and it gets so huge so quickly. I'd love to have a subforum just for unschoolers so we can direct questions/concerns specifically toward fellow unschoolers.

yeah, weekly thread for us support is a good idea. I think that we have a need for it also shows how much we need a sub-forum.

What is the absolute worst that could happen if there were to be an unschooling forum? Is the outcome so terrible that it cannot be contemplated?

Its such an ecclectic form of homeschooling, and even the more traditional homeschoolers drop in for information on a regular basis! It would service the entire homeschooling community on MDC!

but i would guess, at this point, what with the server overhauls and such goings on, the admin aren't really looking too deeply into new sub-forums. seems we're having a hard enough time with the ones we've got.

but when it's all sorted out, i would oh so dearly love to get back to respectfully badgering for an unschooling subforum not to mention all the organic blueberry-dark-chocolate fudge cakes I'll be making for the amazing admins and web-wise folk who manifest such a sub-forum

This is a forum that's been on our list for a while. We're currently going through each forum/subforum and trying to review what are needs are. This may take a few weeks, but we get to all requests.

I think we really need the forum. I have many ideas and issues I would like to bring up, but with just one unschooling thread available there is no way something so small could encompass all of my needs. It's so bogged down already it's impossible to follow.

Okay, I'll come clean:

This is part of a sociological experiment that I've assigned my children to complete for their unit on social psychology. I want them to determine if persistance really does pay off. Also, they'll look at how different people gauge persistance v annoying nagging. And hopefully answer the question, "If one drops it a subject, does it really go away?"

Lack of feedback from MDC admins is going to make my kids late in turning in this assignment. It would be a shame if I had to give out detentions. sigh.

Seriously though, since I've never worked on a board, I have no idea what goes in to adding a forum. There was been a few responses like, "We're considering it." or "It may take a few weeks." but as it's been a year now, I'd just like to understand why it's such a big deal. If a subforum is created and doesn't get used, couldn't it just be taken down again?
