water kefir + veggie juice?

I just read Amanda's (gale force) e-book about increasing iron and she mentions fermenting vegetable juices to increase iron absorption. I would think the usual method for doing that would be using whey or something like that. Has anyone tried water kefir grains in V8 or tomato juice or anything like that? Is there enough sugar for the grains? Does the end result taste good?

Hey Clucky. I should update that ebook. I've done it and it gave me a great energy boost. I should be drinking it every single day but, of course, I don't.

What I did was a two-step water kefir process. I put the grains in some sugar water for a day, strained the grains, and added the water to vegetable juice. I let the juice sit for a day and then drank it.
