Help me allay DH's fears about cholesterol

DH has some health problems that I believe started from his 8 mercury fillings, which we got removed last year. We've been making the journey towards better health, and I really believe that traditional foods have helped.

His latest blood tests show very high cholesterol, and his HDL to cholesterol ratio is not very good. He's been on board with our traditional foods diet for the last 2 years, but now he's worried about eating raw butter and bacon, and the things we normally eat. I eat the same things he eats at home and my HDLs are very high and I've been told I have a phenomenal HDL to cholesterol ratio.

Can anyone else volunteer the amounts of fats they eat and your cholesterol levels so I can get DH to continue eating well at home?

Thanks!

Eat Fat Lose Fat explains this fabulously.

It is hard to do a 360, and go against the "diet dictocrats"...

Could you get your dh to read more about it? (My dh is not really into reading about health issues and just has me summarize whatever I find)

The Benefits of High Cholesterol--

Quote:
Now consider that more than 90 % of all cardiovascular disease is seen in people above age 60 also and that almost all studies have found that high cholesterol is not a risk factor for women.2 This means that high cholesterol is only a risk factor for less than 5 % of those who die from a heart attack.

But there is more comfort for those who have high cholesterol; six of the studies found that total mortality was inversely associated with either total or LDL-cholesterol, or both. This means that it is actually much better to have high than to have low cholesterol if you want to live to be very old.

The International Network of Cholesterol Skeptics My favorite place for reading about this topic--

My dh had normal/good cholesterol levels when we he had a life insurance physical and he eats whole milk, cheese, butter, eggs, and meat regularly. If this helps--His blood pressure has also decreased since we switched to traditional foods and mine has stayed low.

You could have your dh get his homocystine levels check because from what I have been reading that is a much better tool to find out your risk of heart disease....
