I just finished it and LOVED it. At the risk of sounding corny , it fed my mind and my soul. I just felt GOOD everytime I picked it up and read. I especially loved the focus on eating seasonally and the chapter on Blood Moon (meat).

I had the pleasure of attending one of Jessica Prentice's monthly community dinners in December...out of control delicious!!!! If you're ever in Berkeley on a Saturday night close to a full moon, check it out.

Love, love, love this book! Last year I re-read each Moon as it was appropriate, to get in the swing of the season. It's like a Bible for me (I'm sort of non-religious pagan, if that makes any sense whatsoever)... food... moon stuff... history... all tangled together. Beautiful.

Yes, it's one of my favorite books too. I think I got it the week it was released.... Hmm, it may be time to reread it.
I could relate to it SOOO much as a woman of nearly the same age/eras, moving past the low fat 90's, etc.

I used to get her moon newsletters back before the book was released. I wanted to go to a feast so badly but DD was so little and then we moved away... sigh. Her website is how I found most of my good sources for NT/seasonal foods in the Bay Area about 3-4 years ago.

I just finished reading this book last week and I LOVED IT! I had borrowed it from the library, but I think I'm going to order a copy for myself.
Yes, the chapter on Blood Moon really spoke to me (really helping me get over the 'guilt' of eating flesh foods again)

I loved that book too! Just finished it and was so disappointed there weren't more moons/months to the year

I also appreciated the chapter on the Blood Moon as a former veg. Great book!

I was going to say something along the lines of, "reading this book makes me feel like I do when I'm standing in a hot shower after working out in the garden on a cold spring morning" or "reading this book makes me feel like I do when I sit in front of the fire place curled up with a cuppa hot tea, a thick blanket & some rice pudding." In other words, it feeds my soul too.

I love the comparison to the bible - that's how I feel! I'm not religious either, probably leaning more towards paganism than anything else & this book just speaks to me. I'll be rereading it over & over again.

This book (recommended I *think* by Gale Force) helped me transition from vegetarianism. It's gorgeous and I love it. I read it moon by moon the first year. It is such a lovely blend of nourishment for the body and soul. It really helped me establish a new relationship with food. It's actually a must read for anyone with allergies IMO.

A vegetarian or vegan would probably not love this book.

I'm not so sure. Maybe they wouldn't love it, but I don't think they'd dislike it.
Everything is so respectfully written with such passion for the Earth, its animals & traditional peoples. It's really such a beautiful book.
