Love is in the Air for Dingos! Running Mamas February Thread! - Page 40

Hey Saskias, thanks for the yeast info - and everyone else too. I need the kick in the pants to be careful with the "yeast-loving food" - especially since my parents gave us Girl Scout cookies today. They should probably go straight to the basement freezer. That's a good point about the babe - I always felt so grateful that DD and I never had thrush - and I would hate to have to battle that this time around.

I have heard it is good to switch up the particular brand/blend of probiotic every now and then... true?

And Saskias, how are you feeling? Did you get past that sinus infection?

tjsmama, I just keep thinking how strong you are to have your STBX come over to hang with your DS. I can't imagine that's easy. Big to you.

I'd love to train with you, but aren't you in Canada? I think that's a little to far north for me. : How about you come down to Denver?

Seriously, though, I totally understand the training thing. That's a big reason I joined the running group to do track workouts. There are a ton of running clubs in town, but most of them run in the evening, which doesn't work well for me. I'm lucky to have a great group of friends who are very active and like to run/bike/hike together. They're actually the whole reason I got into triathlon last year. We got together about once a week during the summer last year to bike, all of us pulling our trailers with kiddos inside. We called it "bike with your bambino" and we got some astounded looks from other bikers as 6 or 7 of us would ride by with babes in tow. Even more astounded than the ones we get from other hikers as we hike by with babes on our backs!

must.run.
Yay for the Y! I my Y. Everyone there is so nice, the childcare is great, and DS likes it. I hope your Y is as good as mine is!

Eks~At this point, it's kind of more weird than hard when he comes over. I get annoyed when he helps himself to stuff in the fridge, or looks through the mail if I haven't gone through it and put it away yet. He fails to get it that he doesn't live here anymore. I feel like he should act like he's a guest, he thinks he can just act like it's still a home that he happens to not live in anymore.

Ok, so who managed to virtually spread their sinus germies??? It's not bad yet, but it's there. : that it just stays irritating and doesn't get worse.

I think it might have been me. We just can't shake this stupid virus. Last night my fever got up to 103.3. That's pretty freakin' high and I felt awful. It took 3 ibuprofen and 3 acetaminaphin (3 hours later) to make a dent in the fever. Just a craptacular way to finish my day yesterday.

I'm still sick and I've got two sick kids home with me. Should be another stellar day.

are you serious? one of the stipulations i have about where we end up living is the number of sunny days - seriously, my mental health depends on it.... which is why, even though i the pnw, i couldnt do it. even my most upbeat happy friend who moved back to seattle last summer called after a month of gray days to say "do not move here!" im in abq, just south of you. and the tri is in farmington, so you could do it except then i couldnt borrow a wetsuit from you (if u have one)

eks - you dont need to change the probiotic, so long as you're taking one that has several strains in it. more important is the cfu's (colony forming units). you want at least 10 billion (w/ a b) per dose. mine has3 strains and 30 billion. another one ive liked has 14 strains and 20 billion... You could also get an infant brand to have on hand for baby boy eks, you'd want a non-dairy one and it should just have b. infantis (bifidobacterium infantis) as this is the primary bacteria in breastfed babies guts. My girlfriend had some yeast while preg. so gave her baby this, and she thought she saw the threat of a yeast diaper rash that never developed maybe b/c of the probiotic. Natren makes a good one. Its at whole foods I think. You'd mix the dose in a dropper with some breastmilk, or you could try putting the powder on your nipple, but Ive found that to be to crusty for babes enjoyment. The sinus infection cleared up. I actually followed Dh's prescription (afrin, steroid and saline wash) for a few days and it went away.

So its morning and Im not in the pool Im going to try for the afternoon - c'mon me!

HBM -I cant send enough healing energy your way!!!! Hang in there mama, it WILL pass.
HBM...it's bad I know! Hope you all can get better soon! Take care and rest rest rest. When we're all better let's go for a little run!

I have to get a root canal tomorrow. Not totally looking forward to it! LOL
Have to abx for the infection...so reading along about yeast..I always get that with abx.

Off to yoga class in a few. I was so tired yesterday after the walk that I took a nap! Feel like an old lady!

rr~My legs feel.like.lead today. Ugh. I was supposed to run 3.5 but I only managed 2 on the TM before I had to switch to the elliptical. It's done though!
good for you towsonmama!

mommabelle - ugh on the root canals...I hate those.

HBM - mama I'm so sorry you feel so awful. I hope you and your babies get well soon.

I have to get a run in still. Dh played hooky from work today because our water softener broke and we had to go get a new one. So I'll at least get to go by myself. I'm thinking about heading into the woods for a slow and easy long run. With the weather what it is I can never guarantee when I can get those long runs in so I feel like I need to take advantage when I can.

Just read about some bad storms and trees down and things in Atlanta - I hope our ATL area dingos are doing OK!

HBM I hope you feel better very soon, and your girlies too. I am envisioning your whole family being healthy and happy.

tjsmama, that would totally annoy me too. He should keep his hands out of your fridge and off of your mail and anything else too. He made this choice, he doesn't get to just walk in and act like it's his home away from home. It sounds like he is "failing to get" a lot of stuff.

Sooo... are we allowed to discuss what we get from our SS on here? Or does it need to go to the Yahoo group?
yes, we had a giant storm here but are fine, aside from grumpy from waking up too early (dd has better radar than TV stations, and finds her way into our bed right before the booms start, about 5:30 a.m.). But our power never went out and I think a lot of people's did. there was definitely hail though! intense.

I did yoga last night after the kids were in bed and it was really really hard. I know I keep talking about it but wow, I had no idea that yoga could be so very intense for your whole body! so, no run today but I'm planning on it tomorrow while ds is in school. I want to go pretty long but who knows how long I'll stay on the stupid mill. maybe through two weeds episodes? it is SO good!

take care mamas, must clean.

hbm~: I don't have it bad at all, I feel totally fine most of the day, just get some pressure build-up and drainage gunk at night. Hope you and your family are feeling better very soon!

Hmm....why did I think you were in Canada? Oh well, I still think you should move to Denver! I've never actually been to NM...

A wetsuit is on my list of things I want to get before the money goes away...I borrowed one for my one tri and went without for the other last year.

rr~Got my 4.5 in, although kind of slowly. Had to push DS and it was a little slick/snowy in spots. My hip is really irritating me. I couldn't lay on that side last night because it hurt. May be time to get serious about calling the doctor. I've got 15 more miles to run this week, no time for pain!

Just back from DS's ped appt and his ears are completely cleared up (he actually said that they looked like they never had an infection). I've been a little worried about DS's speech, especially since I found out that my friend's son (who is 4 days younger and very very similar developmentally) is starting EI speech therapy next week. My ped isn't concerned...he said that as long as he's expressing himself, communicating even nonverbally, and understanding things, we won't worry until closer to two. He said if it made me more comfortable, we could start speech therapy, but he didn't think it was necessary yet. He basically reinforced my feelings that I was doubting thanks to my friend's paranoia-inducing ped (seriously, everytime they go, she comes out worried about SOMETHING). I my ped!!!

Time to get out of here and go visit some friends. Yay!

Dude! Let's plan a meet-up! We'll be driving our caravan through there and probably stopping for at least an overnight to meet my Dad when we make our big move (in +/- 5 weeks!!!!) Taosmom, you game to come to Abq?
On the probiotic nipple, I did that and Ali G didn't seem to mind it. I thought it looked like a snowcap, or whatever those little jimmie-covered chocolates are called.

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HBM)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Oh my you poor thing! What a Hell week you're having! I am sending :, and :healing to you and your whole family too!

MB - Is all this yoga you're doing from yogatoday.com? I think maybe I need to check it out. I'm feeling enticed.

Erg, I have been reading along but too busy to post and now my mind is totally blanking on the other personals I wanted to do. I even had a whole bunch of multi-quotes going and then dd1 closed everything to get on pbskids.org :

Anyway, Ali G finally has a real live official birth certificate!! and we also just got word that we don't need her US passport to leave Mexico!!!! : We only need her Consular Report of Birth Abroad and she's free and we can get that pretty easily, just a mini-vacation to Mexico City. <huge sigh of relief>

Megs - One bummer, we just reviewed the best route to take and it looks like going up to Missoula and then past Spokane would be a crazy mountainous detour compared to cutting up through Boise and OR. I'm bummed because I was so psyched to meet you there, but you'll just have to come camp at the Dingo Farm this summer.

Lofty - that may also apply to Austin though it isn't nearly as out of the way as Spokane. But I love that you're racing dh to a job! What a brilliant idea! And when you get it you can be the one huffing and eyerolling about his every purchase! I love it!

RM - mama, I'm sending lots of healing thoughts and prayers your way that everything turns out to be simple and benign. :

Po7 - Do NOT tell Ali G that!!! I don't want her to get any ideas about mobility for like, oh, another year? Well, I guess that is a bit much to ask for. Happy Childproofing mama!

Tjsmama - Oh man, I don't have a clear thought but I know I'd be tempted to stock my fridge and mail with 'interesting' things for STBX to find. What an ass he is to do that! :

Monikita! So good to see you here again!!!! : I'm sorry you've been having such a rough winter of being sick!

Bec - : Too! Welcome back!
plady, does said route come through AZ? :
No, It's north to Lareo TX and then NW to Abq. It does go through SLC though Monikita!

But that is probably a good thing to not drive thru AZ, it will probably start to get HOT here in ~5 weeks
post #798 of 938
plady~ That's how I felt about R being mobile too. The rest of the kids have just been dying for her to start moving around. They are just so so sweet with her....she is one pampered little princess.

mamas, I had to do one of the hardest things today. My oldest dds miniature horse that lives at MILs house (used to live at our house, but feed got too expensive) had a baby. That baby was born on dd's b-day earlier this month. It was a cute little black colt and dd had named him Tango. MIL called this morning to tell us that he had died....he was attacked by a pack of dogs.

I had the unfortunate job of breaking the news to dd. It tore her sweet little heart out. She is just devestated. She cried and cried. I feel so bad for her. Her friend that came to her b-day party had even gotten her a new halter for the pony and 2 model horses that looked like the mama and the baby. So so sad. The rest of MIL's mares are having babies this summer....3 or 4 new babies....but I don't think any of them will be as special as the one HER horse had.

RR: I got a speedy 5 miles in today....in the wind....with the jogger.

I'm off to cut middle dd's hair and then to art lessons...
Po7-How awful. Poor dd. How is she doing?

So I went back to the doctor today and now have:
ear infection
sinus infection
bronchitis

I have 4 scripts. I'm so hoping this clears it up.

Then this afternoon, Jojo pulled a cup of hot tea off the counter onto herself. She has second degree burns on her left arm. It's bandaged from fingers to shoulder. She had a shot of morphine (her first shot ) and is pretty drugged right now. It has eased the pain though, so that's good.

We have to take her to the doctor for the next 4-5 days for dressing changes.

My poor baby. It was just heartbreaking.

OMG HMB.

I hope hope hope that was the bottom.

This flu hurts as much as last time. Ow.
