Hi y'all. Just checking in real quick. Our illnesses seem to finally be on the down swing. We still have lots of coughing, but today was the first day in over a week with no fever!
Jojo's arm is doing OK. The burns seem to be healing and she doesn't act bothered too much by it except for the dressing changes.
My surgery was postponed until Tuesday. My mom came today so I could rest and it helped a lot.

Thank you for all of your prayers, healing vibes and good thoughts. I really felt them and I can tell they helped.

Been thinking about y'all HBM, glad things are starting to look up. I'm so glad Jojo is healing OK.

I love the Dingo thread so much. I am having a horrible day and I am escaping here for a minute and you all have me cracking up and actually smiling for the first time all day. Thank you!!!!

twosonmom - when you felt, all of the stitches disappear so you can do straight garter stitch or stockinette, whichever you prefer.

grnmtnmama - so when you tell us you haev switched to the rosewood soap we'll know you're really serious

hbm - glad things are turning for you, even slightly

saskiasmom - I loved Santa Fe when I went last summer - if I had to move to the USA, that is where I would want to be. Did you know that is where Mothering is based?

Monikita - way to go!

hollysmom -

runningmommy - sorry you are feeling sick

1jooj - how are you holding up this week?

What are the swap rules with reporting on MDC what surprises we got in the mail?

I got home today to find an interesting peanut butter chocolate protein bar. Nice surprise after a py day.
Just poppin' my head in to say "thanks" for the big, fat dirty-minded chuckle re: fingers & conception. Heh heh heh.

Been a long-a$$ day, but tomorrow will be slightly better after my entire class bombs our clinical anatomy test.

Good question! Shanti, can we share our swap joy here? It would be helpful to let people know their packages arrived, and it is always fun to share the joy of receiving!

Hi Dingos...I'm over the flu, and LAMBING started today. With a chilled little guy. I got him started, but I am not too optimistic for his long-term odds. Throw out STRONG NURSING VIBES for him--fella's got to learn to get a latch!

No running until the lungs are ready.

i'm sharing the joy!! got a sweet little package in the mail today. and am definitely feeling sheepish about not getting one out yet, but am poised and ready to send away tomorrow!

I missed all the talk about going from 1-2. And um...Plady...thanks for the laugh-we can always count on you :

eksmom-love your belly! I will have to get a pic of my big one as well! Dh says its getting out of control We are in a different house this pregnancy and have a much smaller kitchen and a much smaller master bathroom so I am constantly knocking into him now trying to squeeze by

Speaking of poor dh-we have had a doozy of a week. Spent Tuesday from midnight to 6 am in the ER. He thought he had appendicitis. The docs thought he had it as well-and it turns out he has pneumonia. Completely strange. No cough-no previous cold-no nothing. Just fever and elevated white blood count, and chills and shaking. Also-the pain radiating from his belly to right side getting progressively worse as the night went on. They saw the bottom of his right lung on the CT scan and realized it was pneumonia. He is exhausted and starting to cough now. He had it 18 years ago and was hospitalized for 3 days-this time it is not as bad-hopefully he gets better soon.

It was odd though-we had 6 hours straight of just the two of us talking together FIL came up (who else do you call at that time of night) to stay with K-so that I could be with dh at the H. So we had some good conversation

Dr. Jen-your client stories made me sniff-so happy for those families!!

HBM- you guys have been through so much lately!

plady, meant to say: thanks for the rec for "The Last Mimzy." watched it last night with ds1 and we both LOVED IT!!!!! It was so fun to sit and connect with ds over a movie since I sit and watch a movie so rarely. When it was over, he and I both hit play and watched the beginning again. Ever since seeing "Once" we both think it's hysterical to do that. ( I type this in between breaks reading about Waldorf education and the no-television rules.)

btw, anyone hear stressing over the economy much? just wondering if my dh is alone in this or others are thinking about it, too. i'm too isolated to know, yk.

sorry, no more ... what do you call it... addictive posting... no... monopolozing ???

eta: i lied.

pumpkinseed, your poor dh. nice that you had your fil around. hope he's better soon... belly shots???

DUDE. I'm glad someone else got in here and posted what I was thinking but didn't have time to post. I was assume GMM got her IUD out, but I also was thinking I can't even remember the last time I had a little cross training in the morning.

Thanks for the laugh and I am totally stalking now.

I, too had a somewhat crazy day. Some of you all recall when I was working in my grad office pre-Leah and constantly supervising undergraduate students for my advisor. grrr. Well, I spent 2 hrs doing that today. Which makes me CRAZY. (not the supervising undergraduate piece. the here kristin, you handle this but I want to maintain full control and also tell everyone I'm in charge of the project). That kind of micromanaging s**t is what makes me hate working for my advisor.

Follow that up with spending an hour working on something else for my advisor (I'm her teaching assistant this semester) and take away time attending a seminar on teaching a field course (required by the dept). and you leave about 35 seconds for me to work on my phd project. Which I am trying desperately to get done this semester. grrrr.

My kids.are.crazy.

Done complaining, cause tad da: there was a package awaiting me as the kids and I arrived home from grocery shopping after work. Yay! Yummy yummy colors of yarn and dh's absolute favorite hands-down hot cocoa (swiss miss) and bath stuff and....well it goes on. But suffice to say I was ready to relax.

running related: I'm setting up for a garage sale tomorrow and I brought 9 bins of clothes, household, etc. down from the attic to the living room. I ran up the steps (that's how it's running related).

I'm the stressor of the family. We just bought our house last spring and while we didn't pay too much for it by any means (i.e. we could sell it for more than we paid for it), I just worry. milk, gas, utilities are all going up. My salary will go down if I get the full time job I applied for. My salary may go down if I keep my PT job (the new contract isn't as kind to PT folks as it has been in the past).

Lofty we missed you and serial posting in your year off from the dingoes. Don't go MIA once you return to civilization
post #897 of 938
Mandy, that is exciting!!! I have been thinking about the 1 vs 2 question, even though haven't posted my own thoughts. But I agree with Dr Jen. Have one if you want one. Thankfully DH and I were in agreement that we didn't want just one. Initially I thought that I wanted 3, but I sort of quickly changed my mind. Dd2 came along alittle earlier than expected, but it ended up working (except the first year was he!!). They are so tight now, I can't imagine one without the other. And as BBM said, our family feels complete.

Still no rr news, but I did bike to and fro the subway, and it is : : : :!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But yes, I am noticing that it is staying lighter longer. I don't feel that we had much of a winter, but I am rather done with it.

Poppy, I love your use of smilies.
kerc,

and

(oops, damn dial-up)

cheers. (could we get a beer smiley?)
I could have sworn there was a beer smiley. Dangit! Lately I just need the "box o' wine" smiley. No Franzia or anything, but still cheap -- but yummy -- Australian junk. Works for me. And Costco has a boxed Washington Cab-Merlot that ain't too bad, plus it's local, so I like that. And it is evidently "5 1/3 bottles!" in one $18 box.

Re: economy. I am glad that Dan has a decent job, though it is NOTHING compared to what our salary & benefits were in the military. Guess that's the tradeoff for not having to go to, you know, IRAQ and crap. He's still kinda the low man on the totem pole, but the firm has done amazingly well even in this economy, so no real fears here. And the PT business is crazy good, so I will find something easily when I graduate. We're blessed.

My Neuro prof gave me credit back for my two mis-circled questions! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that man. One of our other profs has a "no tolerance" policy on that, which I kind of understand (when I get into my prior Air Force "attention to details" mindset) but then I also think is complete Bullsh!t when you have a master test to compare and see that the student legitimately knew the information. Sigh. So I'm feeling good about life and that I will easily pass this quarter.

And I don't give a flying f--- about tomorrow's clinical exam. Tonight I just need to rest and try to stave off this nasty, nasty cold I feel coming on. Does box o' wine prevent colds? No? Crap.

I have knitting angst right now, too, but that's another story for another time. Suffice it to say that I think my book of patterns by the folks at Plymouth Yarns needed to have been edited. At all. Period. By someone who knows what the eff they're doing.

Megs, have a hot toddy! I *promise* it works. I felt my first tickly throat in months 3 days ago. I started my nightly toddy regime and ta da! I think I kicked it before it kicked me. Jameson irish whisky, lemon juice, honey and hot water. Even my tee-totaling daddy kept a bottle waaay waaay back for medicinal uses. wish i could bring you one over.
