Love is in the Air for Dingos! Running Mamas February Thread! - Page 46

That's funny, Lofty -- I was so craving Jameson's the other day. Mmmm, love that stuff. Right now it's way too early in the morning, so I'll stick with Emergen-C and hope for the best to get through today. Then maybe I'll hit the liquor store on the way home.

It's wierd, though -- I don't have a scratchy throat -- it just feels oddly constricted wayyyyy down at the base of my neck, almost like a muscle sprain or something. ???? And I have a lovely, phlegmy cough.

I am a little stressed about finances, but I would be regardless of what the economy was doing. DH is going to quit his job to be a SAHD once I am done with my paltry 6 weeks of maternity leave. I am nerrrrvvvvouss about how that is going to work. I think I have pretty good job security but I have tested it during this pregnancy with the complications and sicknesses. I feel like my boss is not quite as crazy about me as she once was, and I'm feeling the pressure of soon being the only source of income. So, the situation w/ the economy isn't helping me any, but at least I am in healthcare and my particular organization seems to be going ahead full steam. We are undergoing a major restructuring w/ lots of building and hiring.

Speaking of which - I must get my to work.

i am stressed about the economy for sure. my part time teaching mostly covers dd's preschool costs so i struggle a lot with not working in this time of potential recession. that said, it's a hard time to look for a job when companies are cutting back and all that. i just hope dh continues to do well at his job so at least we feel secure with that part.

ladies, i am worried about my running and the half coming up. with the minor sickness and travel, i am off my plan and have still not made it past 4 miles yet.

so...i think i need to get back into 3 times a week [ive slacked to 1-2x week] and try to increase, what, 1/4 mile each run? my half is at the end of april so it is 8 weeks away....

and by the way, speaking of sickness, all the recommendations you guys gave me before i left town WORKED! i kept it at bay and felt fine when i was there. i did the zinc, vit c, echinacea and green tea with honey.

ETA: eks that belly is beautiful! i never had a nice, smooth pregnant belly like that - pregnancy looks great on you!

eksmom-love your belly! I will have to get a pic of my big one as well! Dh says its getting out of control We are in a different house this pregnancy and have a much smaller kitchen and a much smaller master bathroom so I am constantly knocking into him now trying to squeeze by

Speaking of poor dh-we have had a doozy of a week. Spent Tuesday from midnight to 6 am in the ER. He thought he had appendicitis. The docs thought he had it as well-and it turns out he has pneumonia. Completely strange. No cough-no previous cold-no nothing. Just fever and elevated white blood count, and chills and shaking. Also-the pain radiating from his belly to right side getting progressively worse as the night went on. They saw the bottom of his right lung on the CT scan and realized it was pneumonia. He is exhausted and starting to cough now. He had it 18 years ago and was hospitalized for 3 days-this time it is not as bad-hopefully he gets better soon.

It was odd though-we had 6 hours straight of just the two of us talking together FIL came up (who else do you call at that time of night) to stay with K-so that I could be with dh at the H. So we had some good conversation

Dr. Jen-your client stories made me sniff-so happy for those families!!

HBM- you guys have been through so much lately!
That's how my son's pneumonia was found, they thought he had appendicitis!

Hope dh is on the mend quick!

Thanks to Monica I have a much better attitude about money. my job is my job, i'm the only marketing person here and feel fairly secure even if our business suffers due to the economy or other reasons. they might fire me for being on the internet too much, but probably not because it'd be a PITA to find another person to do this locally.

I REALLY want our bike business to grow - and we've got plans for growth that I can talk about real soon. Being an entrepreneur is cool and I have a ton of ideas and now feel like making money is totally possible - no matter what.

My jeans are fitting really well this morning. I'm down another pound or so. Planning on taking K ice skating this afternoon. It was -16 on my way into work - in the sun. So they won't go outside at preschool and he'll need to let off some steam.

and today i will do abs. promise.

shanti...hope you have a better day from here on out!

jooj..hope your lamb pulls through.

Pseed..hope your dh gets better.

loftmama...I am stressing over the economy. Dh job is going well, but I'm still SAHM for now and will be for a few more years.

I feel for dh having the whole burden of our finances even though we are both in agreement with how we are dividing up our providing. For many years my job was really hard, but now with kids in school I think he has the harder job. However I am going to get my teaching cert next year, so that I can have that option in the future. You know down south all the churches run preschools and parent mornings out. I would really love to work at one of those. It's usually about 4 hours a day and of course it's the age where the parents are just so happy to have somewhere to send their kids and get a break so the environment is really positive. Well, we will see it's a toss up between teaching German or doing that.

Kerc..hope your day goes great today.

Megs..I don't know what's wrong with your knitting book..but I feel your pain! LOL

Speaking of editors..you know my family live in small southern town that is a rival with the neighborhing small southern town. (it started because two families got angry with each other 100 years ago or so...stupid I know but the families still live there) Anyway, the editor of the other town newspaper wrote this ridiculous article about MY family (business related) without even checking the facts. Well, my brother is friends with the editor of the newspaper in my parents town, so there's going to be a big backlash of real and true facts. Is this totally ridiculous or what!???

I'm running on my home treadmill later today. 30 min is about all I can handle on the treadmill.

hey mommabelle - have you ever heard of this tree-climbing organization in north georgia?

dancing with trees

i read an article about it and was thinking my ds would love to do that. seems like fun!

that's crazy about the dueling towns with crazy untrue articles in the paper!

Oh yeah, that is always a hrbinger of doom for me, that weird pulled-muscle feeling. : to get you through to the hot toddy! And try some zinc too!

I don't know if Runners World's Smart Coach is still acting up but if not maybe you should go set up a new training schedule based on the time you have and where you are. Just to give you more confidence. But think of Tjsmama's run yesterday, a little competitive spirit will take you a long way!

RM - Voted! Cool picture!

Mbelle - Yikes! Good luck getting into the whole Hatfields and McCoys thing!

Re: Economy, I'm not exactly *worried* but I am feeling wary. But mostly that's because dh and I will have to come up with something to make $ once we get settled in and other than me wanting to get trained as an EMT (which I am sure is hardly going to pull in any big bucks!) we don't have any flashes of inspiration hitting us. Though I'm sure they'll come.

Okay, I'd better get to the gym since I have a sleeping baby I can sneak out on!

Is MDC acting wierd for y'all? Everytime I pull up the page the last few days it's a different color.

Poppy I haven't heard of that particular one. That looks really neat. For a time I thought about homeschooling and there was this cool organization that did all sorts of different outdoor stuff like that, but also outdoor science things. I still keep up with the homeschooling stuff just in case I need it for an option.

Cooking dinner tonight for this homeless family organization. It's pretty cool, because most of the people are just in a bind for a few months and you hear about them later and how they are doing so great. Right now with the economy so bad there are more families than usual and we're cooking for 20 people tonight!

Still haven't run..must go do that.

The new moon is March 7th.

Economy: My biggest concern to date is how much money we're losing on our investments, 401k, IRA, etc. Each month we watch chunks of it disappear. The statements come, and I rattle off to DH "Hey, we lost $X this quarter. No wait, that was in a MONTH." to which he responds "Everybody is losing money right now, Monica." Makes me feel better about DD's college fund being in a CD, even if we do have to pay taxes on the interest. I just keep trying to tell myself "The Universe provides. There is enough for us all. Wealth and abundance are coming to us, now. We will always be well taken care of." etc. And there really is, you know.. enough for us all to prosper.

I think today's run will be on the TM. It is supposed to hit 55 today (warm before the storm), which makes me want to run outside, but our air quality is in the red zone. I sure hope the storm pushes it all out tomorrow!!

Monica - I thought of you so often over the past year and a half. When I got sick and was reading every alternative health source under the sun, I read some Louise Hay, and I remembered you quoting her here. The book I read was very thought provoking, and I am a complete believer in the connection between thoughts and "reality". My body exactly manifested the thoughts I was having- exactly. And Ive heard story after story of that happening to other people (although they dont know its happening, like my dad who is sooooo emotionally repressed, and despite being very physically healthy, he had a heart attack 2 years ago. He thinks the road to healing is eating brown rice for the rest of his life, and I think he needs consciousness revolution!).

So what does the new moon mean? New beginnings? March 7th is my bday, and Im sure that the coming year will be where the past year and a half of physical, emotional and spiritual awakening will really come to fruition

rr: I havent done sh** this week b/c dh was supposed to be around in the mornings, so I canceled babysitter, and then he got the flu and has been sleeping .. although he told me I could wake him up - yeah, right, Im going to wake you up at 8am after you got home from work at 3:45am when you have the flu! Grr, I have serious guilt issues - Ill have to discuss those with you in the future, as they are increasingly causing me problems... But tomorrow he has off, so there's that!
money losing value is exactly what dh has been preaching for several years now. about 4 years ago, he put all of our $$ - everything - in Canadian dollars. I've been categorizing him as an extremist and calling him Mr. Doom & Gloom. He researches almost the amt of a full-time job and I'm not liking that everything's happening just as he's been saving. I don't want to talk about his other predictions, b/c it's too depressing. anyone want to start stocking up on wheat with me?

eta: i totally believe in what you're saying, however, about the "universe provides. there is enough for everyone, etc." Totally and absolutely.

RR: not today. still doing major packing... trying to get it done so the kiddos can go to an ice-fishing contest tomorrow and try one more time to meet some school-age kids...

mommabelle, so cool that you're cooking tonight!! that will be so much fun!! that's crazy about the georgia fighing. is it like the hatfields & mccoys, or something? and , yeah, mdc is acting weird for me, too.

yeeaaaah, Mommabelle, its MDC changing colors, mm hm .. (where's the emoticon with the bong?)

monica -does that mean it is time for a new treasure map? hmm maybe i will check out the other threads to see if tracy is getting that together again.
Well, if you try to make changes in your life some people say that making those changes with the rhythms of nature make it easier/more powerful, or somthin' like that thereabouts. So after the new moon, when the moon starts to grow, is when it is a good time to do thinks that increase. Like increasing your wealth, etc. If you want to give up a bad habit, a good time to start is the day after the full moon, as the moon gets smaller. It could be a whole load of malarky, but it sure doesn't hurt anything.

Other things that are good to increase:

love in your home or between you and your spouse
positive thoughts
# of fruits & vegetables you eat per day

etc.

You know, I think that keeping mine in a closet, turned with its front against the wall was some sort of signal to the universe, cause only one thing on my treasure map came into actuality. I think the time to start that is in April.

Oh, but as for the specifics of abundance and the new moon, this is what I was talking about. But don't go off of those dates, because that was for last year.

Its where you make a sort of collage of all the things you want to manifest in the coming year. There are 3 days to do it (I dont know the significance) - I think last year it was april 13-17 or something. You can only make it on the designated days, but in the time leading up to it (like now) you start thinking about what you want on it, and I think its ok to amass stuff for it, like magazines (that you can cut stuff out of, but only on the right days). does that sound right?
That treasure map sounds cool! I stress about the economy but that only started when dh lost his job at the beginning of the month. Now it's gotten to be an all-consuming stress and I'm working hard every day to not let it totally control me. I tend to get more nervous when people talk about it being a bad economy because my internal voice goes into panic mode, shouting "That means he'll never find a new job!" In moments of clarity I don't really think that way.

rm~Great pic! I cast my vote.

monica~I missed your affirmations!

rr~I went to the gym today for 35 minutes on the elliptical and lots of weight lifting. The weights are starting to get easier and it's fun to see results! I've made tomorrow my rest day so I can enjoy going to my friend's wedding without worrying about having time to work out. It's going to be so nice to have a night out with dh.
