Need to get amalgam replaced while nursing

Thread Starter
I have an old amalgam that needs replaced. My almost two year old is still nursing, and has never taken a bottle. What can I do? I don't want to forcefully wean her, but I don't want to risk the mercury poisoning, either. Or a root canal, if I just put this off.

Can I not nurse her for the day of the replacement and a couple days after? Take supplements? Help!

You can ask for a dental dam during the procedure - most dentists will use it anyway. Make sure they replace with composite, not amalgam.

You can pump and dump for a few days if you want to, I am not sure this is needed with a 2 year old.
