Wow...that was actually easy...

I've been trying to figure a way to bring up the circ topic with my DH as the birth of our second son is upon us (any day now!!) DS1 was circ'd (due to our lack of knowledge) but once I found out this one was a boy I really started to delve into the information you lovely ladies have compiled here.

Last night we were watching the Birth As We Know it DVD (my lovely MW let us borow her copy!) and the segment about circ started (didn't expect it I had to close my eyes because...well you know what it looks like yikes!!) DH brought up that we needed to talk to the ped. about when/where/how much to circ this one "because it's important to me." I said "Ok, but it's not the end of the world if he stays intact (trying not to put him on the defensive.)" I then asked him his reasons for circing and he brought up it has nothing to do with the health things but had to do with the biblical principals. Well thank God I had found the info on that topic from the circumstitions website and I let him read it and actually left him with this board and all the info to research for hisself.

This morning we talked about it and he told me "This baby will NOT be circumsized!" We then talked about some of the stuff he learned

Yay! It was actually really easy once I knew he was open to discussion and research and I think the best thing I could have done was left him to look at everything without me breathing down his neck.

He did however warn me that just because I won this battle not to think I can get my way with everything all the time (he was mostly joking )

I just wanted to thank you ladies for all the time and effort you've put in here to compile all of this wonderful information! It's helped save another foreskin

Thanks ladies

I was worried it would be an all out war if I tried to bring it up and it's really hard to bring up the topic of penises with someone who has one.

It all turned out for the best

I wonder if you realize what a gem this man is? I'm sure you do! He is a combination of intelligent and open minded to new information and that is a relative rarity. Hang on to him for dear life!

Oh I plan to We also don't vax and cloth diaper (I think it was harder to convince him to CD than to not circ!) all being decisions we've made together, but coming from very mainstream conservative backgrounds (and considering ourselves rather conservative as well) we've learned and found out that life isn't better being mainstream Its nice to go against the grain (which is sad because in actuality we're going with the grain it's everyone else who are consider themselves "mainstream" that are against it!)

Circumstitions is an excellent resource it covers just about every angle and answers most questions. If you have time, and you are so inclined, send some feedback the author know about your success your story might help others.

Hey sometimes we men can surprise you. Sounds like your husband is very thoughtful like Phoenix Rising said you're very lucky. Hopefully, you'll be able to rely on him if you find yourself advocating for a friend's child in the future. Good Luck and Congratulations.

Yea! I love hearing about circumcised fathers who have the courage and intelligence to leave their sons intact (my own DH included!).
