More work on the garage. It is amazing how much junk we collect.

8 things tossed from cleaning the top of the fridge. It looks junky already too.
32 tossed/recycled/thrifted items. I'm cleaning out the dreaded computer room. It suposed to be a guest room but any time a guest comes I quickly shovel everything in the closet.

It's a miracle. I can almost see my garage. I've got a 1/4 cleared. Thank goodness paper recycling is tonight. Once I move out those 15 empty cardboard boxes I will be able to claim 1/2 cleared and I will be able to reach the rest of the garage.

I think there are three factors at work here:

1. We have a LOT of clutter! It's easy to find stuff to get rid of when you haven't thrown anything out for 4 years.

2. Our new house is small and has very little storage space. I want to live in a serene, well-organized space. I didn't spend $350,000 so I can live in clutter and mess.

3. We always dreamed of having more children so we have saved all the baby stuff. Sadly, it doesn't look like there is another baby in our future (3 miscarriages, high risk pregnancies, infertility) so we have lots of baby stuff to let go of.

attic attack

I attacked a large part of my attic this weekend and purged.

Recycled at least 75 paper supplies
Gave 120 pieces of baby clothes to my baby sister who is due in 8 weeks
Threw 25 things in trash.

I feel so much better that a part of the attic is done.

Home Office Clean Sweep

I cannot count the large amount of mail that I shredded and threw out, so I will say: 3 bags or more = 3
1 broken shredder
15 cords to electronics that are no longer housed in the office
3 Make Up bags
1 scale donated on freecycle
1 scanner
2 empty boxes
1 baby gate (broken)

No more items counted yet (they're in a pile on the porch waiting to be counted)
Anyway, just reporting that I threw out 20lbs of paper today. I had stuff from 15 years ago. It is a bit of a relief, but I have so far to go I want to cry
How would you guys count 20lbs of paper for your list? 20 items?

I would count it as 20 items. I obviously wouldn't count each piece of paper as an item but 20 pounds of paper is a LOT and is certainly worth at least 20 on your count.

Okay, I think I might have to start counting items and not bags, because my bags are huge. So, today, I gave away 51 baby items of baby clothing (sets = 1 item, and bibs, socks, and hats are not included in the number)

Joining in. I got some stuff done in January, but I hadn't noticed this thread, so I'll start counting with February. I had a major cleaning spree yesterday, and I didn't take time to count items, so I'll just count the bags. It'll probably depend on the day if I count the bag of the item!

5 bags of trash
3 bags of giveaway

Now I'm off to declutter some more!

I would take wayyyyyy to much time to count all those papers. I was going to do 2008 pieces of paper in 2008 but I don't have any more time I want to spend on those papers. Anyway, I'm sure I will reach that mark.

1 bag of trash
1 bag for Goodwill
