Tricare and infertility question

I'm obvioulsly not 100% infertile, I have a DS that was conceived naturally.

We've been trying for #2 for almost a year with no luck. Our problem now is that I've not had a period in 3 months. My GYN said that TriCare won't cover testing until we've been TTC for 1 year. Ummm, I just want testing to find out why the heck I'm not having a period.

Anyone know if what he said is true?

I've never seen a Civilian Dr before...Military docs just send you right to the lab

Hi! How frustrating for you! We have Tricare Prime Remote and have only been seeing civi dr.s for the past 2 1/2 years now. I am pretty positive that. What your doc told you is not true at all! I went into my civi ob and she ordered blood tests to check my hormone levels that very day and Tricare covered them 100 percent. You should give Tricare a call and find out for sure. Or check it their website, that's what I did and it is pretty specific onwhat they will and will not cover for certain plans. From my understanding Tricare will cover all tesing for IF and also any surgical procedures or meds to correct a physical or hormonal cause of IF.

I've heard so many different things from so many different ladies though, so your best bet would be to call Tricare yourself and find out first hand. I think their coverage is different for standard than it is for Prime or Prime Remote.

I hope that this has helped you in some way! I know from expreience that dealing with Tricare and civi docs can be so confusing! Good luck and I hope that whatever it is that is going on with your af is nothing too serious and easliy remmidied!!

I agree with the pp. There's no reason Tricare wouldn't cover it, especially since that's a general health problem and not directly related to TTC. Call Tricare and get the specific information on their coverage to take to your GYN as back up.

I agree. If they're giving you grief from a TTC standpoint, take the other route. Make it an issue of your health.

What I've seen a lot of times is that Tricare will eventually cover you if you complain enough, they just make it difficult.
