Insomnia as preparation for motherhood?

So I woke up at about 2:30 and could not get back to sleep. First I had to pee... then I was thirsty... then I got heartburn from the juice I drank... by that time I was wide awake and there was nothing to be done about it... still haven't gone back to bed.

I keep trying to tell myself this is good preparation for what life will be like with an infant. I have a feeling it's going to be a long time before I get another good night's sleep. :yawning:

The smilies show exactly how I was feeling about what you said since I'm in the same boat - I laughed, and then started to tear up because I laughed so hard, I started to come down and then made myself a bit light headed while jumping up from the computer to tell DH about the post. We both got a good laugh outta it and then the hormones kicked in....I got all bug eyed and then started bitching. And then felt bad for the 5 minute hormone "ride".

What an adventure this all is....

I have been like this for weeks now - and my actual due date isn't until March 6 (although I tend to cook them fast).

I have been averaging 5 hours a night I seem to wake up around 3 having to pee, then I just can't get back to sleep for another couple of hours - THEN DD wakes up, so I can't even sleep in :

I desperately hope this doesn't all mean that the baby will be a night owl.

Yup, you just described my typical night as it has been for the past 3-4 weeks. It was like this with my first baby, too. I actually think I got more sleep after the baby came last time, but you're right, it does sort of prepare you.
