raw yoghurt on SCD or GAPS?

I'm contemplating trying SCD or GAPS for my ds. They advocate homemade goat milk yoghurt, but all the instructions call for heating. I would MUCH rather make raw yoghurt, but wonder if all the unknown strains of bacteria growing in a less controlled environment would be problematic for these diets. Anyone here know anything about this? TIA!

Personally, I never had any luck with trying to do it raw. I am sure other mama's here probably have though.

You have to heat it to around 100 degrees, but you don't have to heat it to 180 like most instructions say. I made raw milk yogurt when I did the SCD IMO on the SCD they tend to be overly cautious (hence heating the milk first to kill the bacteria). I also think they'd be better off culturing probiotics instead of just yogurt starter--have a better chance of getting the right bacteria to help a particular person that way. JMO, though!

Thanks! It's good to hear that others used raw milk yoghurt on the SCD. It would pain me to heat my hard won raw goat milk that high.

Good points. I will do the 100C this time around. How do you culture the probiotics instead of the yogurt starter?
