How do you wash and store baseball caps?

My dh has a few baseball caps that are in desperate need of washing, how do you wash yours so that they don't lose their shape? Would using the handwash cycle of my washing machine be ok? How/where do you store yours? We don't have a downstairs closet so dh put 3 coat hooks up in our pantry for our coats, he has been keeping his hats strewn on the top shelf of the pantry. I just cleaned the pantry and stacked them on the bottom shelf but I am looking for a better solution.

you can put them in the dishwasher, the top rack.

You can get a plastic mold or frame to place the cap in and put it in the washing machine.

I have a set of wall hooks that I hang my caps on to keep them handy but out of the way.
