CBS looking at Hillary...

"A CBS News poll says most voters haven't started paying attention yet to the Democratic presidential race. And at least one political pundit thinks the numbers may add up to a White House campaign for Hillary Rodham Clinton."

I am not a big Hillary fan. Don't dislike her, just happen to like her husband more. Loved his politics. Loved the economy during his administration. Wasn't married to him so his squewing around wasnt any of my business. Loved the way he handled foreign heads of state. Loved how he "felt our pain". I know, he didn't really but you felt like he did. OR at least I felt like he did.

So with him at her side I think she might just do a good job...how could she do a worse job than The Current Resident? There is no one left to piss off. The economy HAS to improve.

Just my 2cents for today.

Good question. However, she has to get there to do that job and imo her candidacy in 2004 is DOA. As a Democratic wag put it: "That's just a conservative fantasy."

I have not seen any game plan from Democratic activist who pine for HRC to thrown her hat in the ring on how she could beat Bush. So many of these polls that roll her name out are actually asking *Democratic* voters. But she pulls such strong negatives from moderates and conservative voters that, if things stay status quo, she'd probably rally any fence sitters in 2004 to Dubya and help boost voter registration.... for Republicans

And consider the hay that can be made by Karl Rove and crew out of Clinton's repeatedly claims in interviews that she won’t enter the 2004 race, only to go back on said statements.

My advice to HRC backers is to listen to her pledge to play out her term as Senator. Btw, I voted for the 'other' Clinton twice.

I know. It would probably never happen. I was really just daydreaming about Bill being back in the White House. Even as the First Gentleman.

But have to admit it would make all us Dems feel better for another Clinton to kick another Bush's butt out of Washington. I know it would make me feel all tingly inside.

Well, my 2 cents for the day.... I really like HRC. I am reading her autobiography and she has paid her dues and is very qualified IMO. Of course the conservatives don't like her and I am glad because most of the flip side do not like GW.

For what it's worth...

I think the country is in the state it's in due to the two-party system. As long as people keep voting for the "lesser of two evils" rather than voting as their conscience dictates, we will never have a government truly representative of the people. For me, The "Democans" and Republicrats" just don't do it, and I am sickened by the hoops the major parties jump through to keep third party candidates out of the running.

On the topic of HRC, I'd have to look closer at her political stance on numerous issues before I could make an informed statement.

Hmm, maybe this is why she does not want to run? This is about Hilary, right? Well, I totally agree that the guy in the White House is not good for the country or the world for that matter. I find no good in him at all. I feel that people are full of fear right now and are confused with what they really want. The media does such a wonderful job at USA Todaying the news that I am not surprised. We do not hear much about what is going on in our country, because it is being edited out. I admit it is hard researching the issues and I do try my best. The two party system to me is a major problem but in a capitalist society, who has the money gets the air time and usually scores.


I do like her ideas, but am so far from center that Democrats are not high on my list either. However, I would never vote for any Republican, ever. Especially if he is from the Bush family.

My FIL is convinced (and has been for quite a while) that HRC will run in 2004. It makes logical sense: politically she can *not* allow a young dem elected in 2004 and stay there until 2012, with their VP having the best chance then in 2012. But, he is also convinced that *when* Bush wins, Cheney will retire and we will see who the Republican Party really wants being President (no negative publicity in 2004, but set up for the presidency in 2008).

HRC is supposed to be much more liberal/left leaning than BC, who is a rather moderate centrist all things considered.

I *hate* when people seem to assume that any sexual relationship is, almost by defination, taking advantage of a woman.

I'd kind of like to see her run (what the heck, right?), but a friend of mine who works for her says it just isn't going to happen. Then again, politicians can be unpredicatable that way....

I think HRC is probably convinced (as am I, unfortunately), that any Democrat is pretty unlikely to win this next go round. My guess is she's biding her time until 2008 when Bush can't run again and the country is finally wise to the catastrophic downfall of our nation at the hands of this administration (pardon the drama - spent the day in D.C. and have yet to take a shower ).

Thats my take on the matter as well (Shrub re-elected in 2004, HRC running in 2008). Although, my FIL a man of conscience says he will NOT vote for Shrub if Lay is out of prison on election day.
