Usually school kids have bedtimes set so they can get up early to go to school. I find the kids fall asleep much later than our school-going friends, like around 11 p.m. or midnight. Of course, we roll out of bed later, too, around 9 or 10 a.m.

I am curious what other homeschooling families' bedtimes are like. Is it a trend for most homeschoolers or is it just us??

Please chime in!!

We are like ya'll. DS is still awake and it after 10:00. He is laying down but not going to sleep.

Us too! My kids usually fall asleep around midnight too...even my little 18 month old. We're night owls!

My 10DD just went into her room and it's almsot 12:30. That's even a bit late for her. It's usually sometime between 10:30-11:30

DD has an earlier bedtime so DH and I can have some time with each other. She goes to bed around 8 and is up around 8 in the morning. She is not required to go to sleep promptly, but she needs to be in bed. It's very rare that she doesn't read for a while before going to sleep.

My kids are fairly early to bed.. we start the routine of getting jammies, getting story read, drinks, cuddles etc around 7pm. On occasion they are up later, but it's rare because they start going mental by 8pm and mommy's sanity is getting thin by then

We do the same thing! Plus, my DH and I like having some time to ourselves after the kids are tucked in.

My 4.5 year old DD goes to bed at 7:30 and my 12 month old goes to bed after 9pm.: I am gently trying to get my 12 month to bed earlier but she naps well during the day which allows me to spend more time with my older DD during the day. My goal is 7:30-8pm for both.

my ds goes to bed way after me. Recently it was 6 or 7am. Now he's gone back to a slightly more human routine of 3 or 4 am.

He's been going to sleep well after midnight since I took him out of school at 8. We're both night owls. He used to go to sleep when I did, he started staying up later than me about 2 years ago.

We try to get the older two in bed by 9pm. Usually by then I'm trying to nurse the toddler to sleep as well. They all 3 like to be up between 7:30 and 8:30 am, no matter what time they went to bed, so we aim for 11 hours or so of sleep at night to stave off very grumpy children the next day. Plus, dh and I both like having some time either together in the evening, or just time to do our own thing without young children hanging on us.

My kids go to bed whenever they want to. We tend to be rather night owlish around here. Dd is usually in bed before Ds and I. Tonight I hope to be in bed around 3 am or so.

My kids (11 and 6) fall asleep around 10/10:30. My 14 y/o dd (who's in school) goes to bed at around 10 but is usually up til midnight-ish.

We don't have bedtimes. My youngest would be tired pretty consistently around 8:00 until about a year ago, then he started going to bed later. But he doesn't like to be up if I'm not up, so he won't stay up super-late.

My older two used to go to bed when I did. But when they got to be 11 or so they turned into night owls and would be up until early morning.

They seem to be swinging back a little though. The two of them often turn in before midnight now...unless ds has got friends over. (In that case, they call it a night when they see the sun coming up!):yawning:

The hsed kids I know all seem to be up later than the schooled kids, but especially the teens!

my dd is a natural night owl. since she was a baby, she went to sleep after midnight, most of the time.
now she's 4, she generally goes to bed around 10-11pm.

Usually not until 3 or 4am. Most of our outside activities are late afternoon so this works well for us.

We don't have set bed times. I voted both 9-ish and after 10 p.m.

Ds (16) is rarely in bed before 11. It's usually more like midnight-1:00.

Most nights, dd (10) goes up to her room between 9 and 10. She's very active in sports and is always tired by this time, but often takes an hour or 2 to actually fall asleep. She likes to read or listen to music in bed.

my boys are in bed between 8 and 9. Yonuger ds likes his sleep and often falls asleep early, around 7, there's no way he could stay up later, lol. Older ds wakes up before 7am no matter what, so if he stayed up late he wouldn't get enough sleep.

It is a rare night DS and I are in bed before midnight. DD goes between 9 and midnight, but she's up earlier than DS.

My kids are in bed between 8 and 8:30. They can sleep as late as they want (well, except for on Sundays, LOL), and usually wake up by 7:30. I don't put them to bed so they can get enough sleep, it's so I can have some sanity before I go to bed.
