All three of the kids go to bed between 8 and 9. The younger two are tired at that time. The oldest is free to hang out in her room if she likes, but she has to be upstairs because if we let her stay awake and downstairs, she expects us to entertain her. She usually falls asleep between 9:30 and 10:30.

Can't answer, as there is no option that is applicable.

I clicked on 8, 9, and 10 or later. My son rarely is in bed before 9 and would stay up until midnight if we let him. I don't mind him staying up but my DH wants him in bed by 8. It doesn't happen and leads to bedtime battles every night. DH just wants him in bed so he can go in the bedroom and watch tv without a companion. He doesn't care about DS getting enough sleep or whatever. He just doesn't want to be bothered by him.

The kids are in bed by 8 or 9, in large part so we can watch grown up stuff alone. I don't enforce lights out unless a kid has been very crabby, but DH does. I'd like to think bedtimes wouldn't metter as much if we had a bigger house, but I know it would matter to DH.

My dd's are 8 and 5, and are usually in bed by 9. Sometimes they are asleep by then, sometimes it's 11 or later. We are all night owls too, but dh has to get up for work at 5:30am, so we can't stay up to midnight all the time.

My daughters are night owls, like me. Usually I suggest that they start to chill out and unwind around 10 pm. They typically watch a movie or read books. It irritates the hell out of other people tho, especially for sleep overs..

Mine are still little (4.5yo and almost 3), but we have a general in bed by 9:30pm bedtime. Then it's stories and lights out. My youngest is up generally between 7:30 and 8am (without fail). My oldest can adjust her sleep -- so if she's up late, she'll sleep in.

The bedtime is really more for me and ds than anything. I wake about 5:45-6am to exercise before work. Ds will extend his nap time if he doesn't get enough sleep, so it's easier to put him down at that time to insure a decent amount of sleeping time.

I'm sure this will change as they grow.

My baby is in bed at 8. My toddler twins are in bed at 8 if they've napped, 7 if they didn't. The older three are in bed at 9 unless daddy is home and gets suckered.

dd was early -to bed (7 pm)till age 1 and fairly early (8-9 pm) till age 3. Now she stays up till we all sleep (10+).

It is ok with me though ... i prefer to have my time to myself in the a.m. anyway. SO i get up 3 hours before she does.

Same here.

My kids get up early NO MATTER what time they go to bed. So, they pretty much always wake up anywhere between 6 and 7:30am.
We try to encourage sleep by 8pm so that they are getting 10hrs of sleep a night. People are much less cranky here when they get sleep.
We are NOT hardcore about it though and the kids regularly stay up later if we are doing anything fun or interesting.
8 or 8:30 seems ideal and what we lean toward, but they can fall asleep anywhere from 7:30 til 10pm depending on what we are up to.

Because DS-9 is formally schooled, he goes to bed at 8:00pm on school nights and 9:00pm on non-school nights. When DH's children (who are homeschooled) are with us (EOW + 2x week), they follow the same routine so DS-9's routine is not interrupted. (They all share a dorm-style room in our house)

We used to go to bed around 11 or 12. Ds1 was up until 1 or 2. Now the younger ones go to bed around 10 or so because I have to take ds1 to work at 2 am and then have to go pick him up at 7 am. We are generally up after that.
Can't wait until ds1 gets his license so he can drive himself.

We don't have a set bedtime, each night is different. Sometimes they go to bed around 8, sometimes they are still awake at 11. Dh and I control the actual bedtime unless they are tired and fall asleep before we are ready to put them to bed.

My seven year old gets ready for bed around 8 with the littles but can stay up and read till nine.

The younger three go to bed between eight and nine.

The have to be in their room after stories -- usually around 8 pm. But as long as they are relatively quite they can play in their room for quite a while. My oldest then reads and often goes to sleep after midnight. My youngest usually goes to sleep earlier (probably between 10-11)

Looks like it's pretty close between the 8ish folks and the after 10ers!
