Daily Check-In for 2/3

I've been slowly losing my mucous plug since yesterday. Very gross but at least it shows my body does remember how to birth a baby! Contractions are pretty nonexistent at this point so I think I've still got awhile but it is encouraging at least. Maybe I'll actually have my baby before the week is out!

41+1 today. I was losing bits of mucus plug on Friday pretty steadily, but it was all clear. Not much yesterday, though. Fri and Sat I had an intense crampy feeling, but it was worse as I was sitting/driving and once I got up and walked around, it faded away. Darn! I really hope things pick up again today.

As an aside, I saw Obama speak in Minneapolis yesterday. Not a lot of walking done as all my energy was taken by the 2 hours+ (!!!!!) we had to stand in line. When the people in line around me asked when I was due and I said a week ago, they looked at me like I had 2 heads...

dahlsk That's cool that you saw Obama! I didn't realize the color of the mucous made a difference, mine has been a kind of yellowish color... (Off to google) I've had those crampy feelings too where walking stops them, I understand your frustration!

40 +16 today. Have been having contractions on and off since yesterday...lost my mucus plug in bits all day yesterday, last night and this morning...first just creamy and then old brownish blood tinge and then red blood this morning! Very exciting! Contractions are getting intense. Dilated to about 3 or so now...effaced to 1/2 inch thickness....hoping this is the week!

40 + 13!! wow! still here. trying to be excited that we will meet baby soon whether baby comes on its own or by induction on tuesday.

i read about castor oil on mdc and it seems too scary to try. i'm thinking to try nipple stimulation a bit more seriously - it definitely works - just one minute and i get a contraction, so i'm debating whether to try it for a lot longer.

good luck to all of you! losing mucus is a good sign!! i lost my plug (or part of it, i don't know) on thursday... still hoping baby decides that 42 weeks is enough. crazy thing is that tomorrow i will be TEN MONTHS pregnant by my LMP!!! i had a late ovulation and adjusted my due date of course, otherwise i would be at what... 3.5 weeks late or something! ha!

Finally!

Well ladies, Sebastian finally decided to join us in this world. He came at 4:57 this morning. It was an extremely long and difficult labor, nothing could have ever prepared me for it. But it was beautiful and natural at home and he is so healthy. I, on the other hand, tore more than my midwife has ever seen someone tear and she spent 1 1/2 hours suturing me this morning after the birth. The recovery is going to be long but I have my mom in town and my dh home to help. My MW says I am to be on bedrest for at least 2 weeks or longer if possible. I am in a lot of pain still but staring at my baby makes it all so worth it. He is absolutely perfect and I am in awe of the miracle of birth.

Good luck to all of you still awaiting your babes, it will be so worth it when they get here! (Oh, and some advice to prevent tearing, don't push super hard when the head starts to come out, I got excited and pushed him all out at once and his shoulders came straight after the head and that's one of the reasons I am so badly torn.)

Hi All!

Congrats to those who have had there babes. I think tonight is the night for us. We have been having contracts, pretty good ones, since 2 p.m. I wouldn't call it active labor or anything, but somethin' tells me tonight is it. We were at my BIL for the SuperBowl. I had my husband drop me and my daughter off at halftime, and told him to go back with my son. He's only like 2 miles down the road, so I told him I'd call him if anything was really up. Now I just have to decide if I'm going to stay home and have my UC, or trot off the the hospy with the MW (long story). It's going to be a last minute call for me ladies. Wish me luck. Pray for babies safe passage, pray for Mama's uterus to clamp down STRONG, and pray for no bleeding and no excess clotting. I know I've got GREAT support from this community during my pregnancy. I will pull from all of your strength and have this baby safely like millions of women have before me. I have no fear! Just excitement and humility!
