crafting magic/wizard stuff for 5yo

we have a little friend who is older than my boys. he's five. i'd like to make some kind of little gift for the boys to bring to him next time we go over there, but the kind of thing my boys play with at home probably wouldn't be quite right for his age. he is really into magic, casting spells, etc so i thought something along those lines would be cool, but i don't have any good ideas. i can sew and knit reasonably well, but not much else.

thanks!

Well, you could make a wizard cape easily enough. Check on the Toys sub-forum and there is a thread about dress-up clothes. I posted pics of the capes that I just made for my boys. I made one with fire breathing dragons, totally cool!

I was also considering making them some wands. I was just going to get a wood dowel. Then, either paint it or maybe even leave it plain. Then, glue ribbons to the top, and then cover the top with a wood dowel cap.

I'd think a wizard, cone-shaped hat to match the cape would be pretty easy to make as well, but it might be hard to make sure it's the right head circumference.

Something like this wand on Etsy would be cute:
