Intense cervical pressure/pain

Hello!

I am 20 weeks pregnant, expecting my 3rd child in June. I never experienced this with my previous two. In the last few days, when I've been on my feet for any time, I get so much pressure (and it becomes painful) on my cervix and in my vagina (even feel it in my rectum) that I MUST sit down. Sitting seems to calm the feeling almost immediately. When I wake up in the morning, it is gone and I almost forget the feeling.

I have a doctor's appt in the morning, so that is why I haven't bothered to call, but tonight I am so uncomfortable I'm wondering if I should. My sister told me she felt this during her third pregnancy and it was nothing to worry about. But my first was a preemie (my water broke at 32 weeks) so I'm a bit more on edge.

Anybody else experience this?

Thanks!

I actually felt this same feeling, but not to the point of pain last week. I was only 13wks. It really freaked me out, it felt like I already had a bowling ball between my legs. I also was moving around a lot and getting stuff done. It subsided a few days later. I am not sure what caused it and will be curious what your mw says, I am seeing mine on Wednesday and plan on asking about it then.

Cervical pressure and pain could be a sign of preterm labor even if you are not feeling contractions. With your history of PROM and a preemie, I would absolutely be calling your care provider right this minute and getting seen ASAP.

Please take your symptoms seriously!

Thanks for the replies. I saw the perinatal specialist this morning. He said my cervix is long and closed. The baby is breech; and is kicking me in the a** and the cervix. He also said that the uterous is positioned in such a way that it makes sense that I am feeling SO much pressure.

To be safe, he wants to check the cervix again every two weeks, as long as I am feeling this way, since I do have a history here, and this pressure would mask any symptoms of PTL.

I had forgot to mention that I did call them two weeks ago for much more mild pressure, and I went in for an NST, and the same dr. said he was going to wait 'till today to do the endovaginal US.

Anyhow, I feel much better (emotionally) and won't worry now. He said there are no restrictions, and to just do what feels comfortable
