Helo me help DH...and not get that fever

OK omniscient mamas. Tell me how to help my poor DH. He rarely gets sick, and, if so, not for long, but this is the worst I've ever seen him. Some sort of respiratory flu-type thing that has him coming up on three days with a high fever, chills, painful cough, aching...Last fever measurement was 103.3, and I have been giving him Tylenol every four hours.
He is totally miserable and also very sweetly worried about me. I'm taking vitamin C, echinachea, drinking tons of liquids, sleeping in the other room. Is there anything else I can do to protect myself? And what about helping this poor man? I can't stand to see him so miserable.

ok sound like could be influenza...

I would take Oscillococcinum (both you and him)

http://www.oscillo.com/

You can find it at Walmart, CVS, grocery stores, health food stores..

Wash hands frequently, don't share glasses or utensils... sleep in separate room... HUGS HUGS HGUS

hope he feels better soon.

Normally I'd not send my dh to the doctor for anything like this, but knowing that a baby could be born any day now I'd probably want him to go get tested and figure out what's bothering him and get on antibiotics asap if it's warranted.

My son had these same symptoms and we took him to the pediatrician on the third day and they tested for strep and flu. Thank God it was strep and could be treated with antibiotics. According to the doc, after 24 hrs on the antibiotics he wouldn't be contagious anymore. My dd ended up with the same thing, so we put her on abx and I swear if anyone else gets it they'll be on abx as quickly as I can call the doctor.

I'm so afraid of the baby being born into a house full of something yucky and having him get strep infection during his first day of life outside the womb.

As for you, I'd be on every homeopathic flu and cold remedy that is safe to try to avoid getting sick.

Normally I wouldn't be so paranoid, but we're all about to give birth any day now!

I wish I had suggestions for you, other than the ones you've already gotten, but I am hoping that you stay ailment free and healthy!!!! And your dh gets better right quick!!!!

You guys are great. I will try the egg white thing in the morning when I can go get some eggs. For now I'll keep with the tylenol/advil alternation for him, and lots of fluids. He's this proud man of irish descent who will normally not let me do anything at all when he feels bad--prefers to moan and suffer in solitude. The fact that he is even asking for anything means I know he is really, really sick. I can't even get him to come lie on the couch-- he's just huddled in a dark room. Thanks for the advice and support, and send some sticky baby vibes too. Our house is a disaster, and I can't imagine how we'd bring a baby into this den of clutter, germs, and general dirt.
siiiiiiigh.
and I am very excited for New York and the happy superbowl fans here, but my living room (where I am sleeping so as to try to not get his flu) faces the street, and I am about to stick my head out the window and holler something very un-festive and rude at the revelers. "Horray, go giants, now please pleas please shut up?"
