Snap press help

Thread Starter
I am looking for a mama who would be willing to put snaps on my wool wraps. If you would be willing to do this pretty much ASAP please let me know. I can pay a small fee (plus shipping ofcourse) or work a trade.

Thanks.

no one willing to do this? Anyone have a link or idea where to find a list of moms who will do this? I know there was one available a few years ago.

The only list I'm aware of is here:
http://www.verybaby.com/ccp0-display/snap+service.html

If you can't find someone local on their list, I am in northern AZ and have a snap press and size 20 polyacetal resin ("plastic") snaps, you can PM me and maybe we can work something out

Could you just buy a snap press? I paid less than $20 for mine and it came w/ snaps and eyelets in a few sizes. It's fairly easy to use and I used it on double layer twill w/ interfacing. I'm allergic to wool so am somewhat unfamiliar w/ it, but I would think it would work. good luck

Where did you get a snap press fo so cheap? I thought they were over a hundred bucks!

It's a hand held one, it looks similar to a hole punch, but it's about 12" long or so. I got mine at either wal-mart or hobby lobby I think. I bought this one: http://www.dritz.com/brands/showcase...p?ITEM_NUM=16P
For occasional use, I didn't see the point in spending the $65-$150 personally, but if you would use it often, it would be worth it.

I don't recommend using the Dritz pliers. They don't work very well, and the snaps available locally (and the ones that come with it) don't have long enough prongs to work well in diapers. The snaps are also *extremely* expensive to buy locally. For 12 "sets" of snaps, WM charges nearly $2.00. I have a pair of Dritz pliers and tried using the snaps locally, and with the exception of one diaper cover (that I rarely use and therefore rarely wash), the snaps all pulled out.

If you want metal snaps, I suggest buying the "Snap Setter" tool and the long-prong metal snaps that are available here:
http://www.thesnapsource.com/

If you need to do more than a few diapers, however, it really is worth it to get a snap press (or convert a drill press for use as a snap press) rather than getting the metal snaps. Long-prong metal snaps are $11 for 50 sets, while "plastic" snaps are $6 for 100 sets (or less, if you order from a co-op). The resale value of a snap press is *excellent*--people sell them for nearly what they paid new.

Aw, I knew there was a good reason! Glad someone else knows more. In that case I would recommend craigslist if you have one locally. Sorry, never made diapers. Good luck!

I have a press, and tons of snaps in various colors in size 20. I'll put them on your covers! I also put them on my own wool wraps. PM me, and I'll give you an address. I'll not charge you much, but would like to know how many diapers we are talking about! Just the cost of the snaps, pretty much. I like doing it, in fact I am snap-happy. LOL

I'm in Tucson and have a snap press for the #20 poly snaps.
