DH went dumpster diving yesterday and came away with the box springs and frame for a king sized bed. Well he did some calling around and found a used king sized mattress for $50 and FIL is going to front us the money until our tax return gets here. So I'll have a king sized bed to sleep in tonight....much nicer than trying to fit two grown adults in a full sized bed.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Dh picks things up off the side if the road all the time! Our Dc's love it. I just checked Craigs list for dressers for my girls and I found a brandy new king sized bed and box springs for $150, in the plastic. How is that possible? I wish I had the resources to to get that right now, we sleep on a 25 year old king that belonged to Dh's Bf's dad for 15 years and somewhere in that time it belonged to his BF and G*d knows what it was used for during that time. Me thinks it's time for a new bed!

What a great find! We sleep on a queen and it is sooo crowded sometimes. This morning we had the two boys in bed with us and I am literally hanging off the bed trying to sleep, a king would be really great. It worries me to have a newborn in bed and then the two monkeys come crashing in!

Well went and got it and its really nice! Plus the bonus was it was only $25 not $50
We have a Habitat for Humanity Home Furnishings store (that I didn't know about until today!) and thats where we got it. Its a very nice place and the prices were awesome (they had a cradle I wanted so bad, but it was already sold $10!!)
We will probably febreeze it a little to get the warehouse musty smell out of it, but otherwise its great
Definitely worth the trip to have the extra sleep space plus I can get out of bed much MUCH easier!

Woo hoo! Dh and I have a king and I LOVE it. We both really treasure our sleep space; sometimes it feels way too crowded just with just me, him, and ds2 once he comes up in the middle of the night.

Not to be a killjoy...
Please please please be careful with picking up used furniture from the side of the road and dumpsters, especially mattresses and boxsprings. Bed bugs are making a HUGE comeback, and you really don't want that nightmare. Finally after a year and 2 months we no longer have to live with it, but it was very costly to get rid of.. and we lost our entire houseful of furniture. Literally. We still have no couches or chairs, no beds, no dressers, etc. It will take us years to build back up our house. It will take far longer to find peace in our minds. Its a hellish experience.
Just please take this as a friendly reminder. So many people have never heard of bed bugs, or believe they are somehow immune to them.
And yes.. we got ours from someone who gave us a couch. Gorgeous couch, didn't see a thing on it and we checked closely. Oh but they were there.....

Can bed bugs be killed with steam cleaning????
I was going to suggest hiring a steamer rather than messing around with febreze, which is why I wondered...

If the steam cleaner is an industrial strength one, yes. Most home steam cleaners don't get hot enough, but the commercial ones do. That will kill bed bugs in all stages of life including the eggs.
I know its a gross subject, but having been affected by it its just one of those things I'm a bit passionate about. I never want anyone to have to go through that. Its like lice, only a hundred million times worse..
So remember, if you can't steam it.. and you can't put it in the washer and the dryer.. it might not be worth that risk. You can't always see evidence of bed bugs, and once you see them.. its often too late.
