Wheelchairs and formula

Hi everyone,

I just read this blog entry and am really liking this analogy. The entry was written by a local IBCLC. I think it's outstanding and thought I would share. It goes a long way in helping mothers to feel less inadequate and helps to reduce the "good" mother/"bad" mother judgment that abounds in our culture. I also think that if women who had to turn to formula and read this article, they might feel less guilty.

Thanks for posting. That was a good analogy. It very much goes along with what many of us here feel - i.e. formula in and of itself is not evil, it just shouldn't be the go-to solution for any and everything.

Someone has this analogy in their siggy... I wonder if they saw this too or the blog writer is in MDC?

I like the analogy, too!

Thanks for linking to this. My DS is formula fed, after an unsuccessful attempt to BFAR. I do feel guilty about it still (and he's nearly 14 months old.) But I definitely agree that it's not as good as breastfeeding!

This is such a great analogy, I'll definitely have to bookmark it and use it sometime!

it's a good analogy and could go much further. having personally been in and out of wheelchairs over the course of the years, there's a lot more there to tap into. formula being seen as a medical tool when natural mechanics aren't working+

is good but i can't go further righ tnow as my 6baby is helping me type with the number pad
