I'm 35 now, and had my first baby at almost 24. My kids are now 11 (12 on the 28th of this month), 8 1/2, 5 1/2, and almost 3 1/2. Most of my friends are pretty close to the same age or older than me.

I keep expecting to become friends with some of the mothers at my daughters's various activities, but I'm usually the youngest one there. This seems weird to me, since I'm 30. My three daughters are 8,6 and 4. I was 21 when I had my first.
I have some friends that are 20, some that are 50 and all ages in between. Age doesn't matter as much to me as personality and values. But I'm curious as to the ages of our mamas here on MDC. What about you?
I'm 28 ( will be 29 in March)
I had my baby a month before my 28th birthday
My daughter will be one next week!
I am am ALWAYS the youngest mama if i go to "mommy groups" and I haven't found much luck with those...even my prenatal yoga class I felt like a little kid because all the other mama-to-be's were in their late 30s early 40s! What gives? I see lots of young moms on this site but have yet to meet them in real life! It wouldn't be a big deal, except our group of friends are all either newly weds or single, and are just not getting why we can't "keep up" with their lifestyle anymore.... i have become much closer to a few moms in my area in their mid 30s...at this age it really doesn't make a huge difference, but it would be nice if my dh new some more daddys closer to his age (he is just 28, and most of my friends with babies hubands are MUCH older)...

I am 35
I had DD#1 when I was 21
My 3 girls are 14,7,&28months
My DH is 36 & my closest friends are from 30-40

I'm 32, almost 33.
I was 29 when I had DD.
My DC are 33 MO and 14 MO.
My DH is 45. My friends vary from early 20s to 50s. I have one friend who is probably 60, but I don't know.

This morning I was walking to work with my backpack on and a construction worker told me that he wished he were 15 again. I said, "Not me." He started guessing my age 16, 18.. I said, "Try 33." Then I thought, what an old creep!

How old are you? 25.

How old were you when you started having kids? 18.

How old are your kids now? 6, 2, and 6 months.

How old are your friends? 26, 24, and 23. One has two kids and is expecting twins in April, one has two kids, and the other is pregnant with her first.

I live in the deep South where we have our babies young! I'm still usually the youngest by far at DS1's school functions. In fact, one of his best friends in his Kindergarten class is the son of my high school math teacher! Awkward.

I am 34.

I was 27 when I became pregnant with the six year old.

They are 6, 3, 15 months.

My friends are generally in my age group. I don't have time to make lots of new friends, so they are the same group I've been friends with since I was about 18. I consider my sister and brother and parents friends, and we are making friends of my DH's older half-brother and family (brother was adopted into another family.)

I found it very odd when I was one of the younger parents with my first daughter. How can I be a younger parent at 27? But nonetheless I often was. Many parents around me were closer to my parents age. I don't have problems making friends, I simply am a bad friend to have because I'm SO busy that I feel that every moment I have extra belongs to my children. Then I need time to myself. My core group of friends is very forgiving, and have the same issues usually so that is very helpful.

edit to add: I thought I should clarify. I'm not good at making friends really. My friends tend to make me a friend. I've been pretty lucky that way I guess.

How old are you? 32, will be 33 in a couple of months

How old were you when you started having kids? 27

How old are your kids now? 5 and 2.5

How old are your friends? My age, give or take a year. I pretty much have friends from when I was younger, long before being a mom. They don't live anywhere near me, except for one who is a doctor and doesn't have a ton of free time (she has a son 10 days older than my youngest). Like others, I'm not too great at making friends. I really don't care about ages. It is nice to have kids of similar ages, though.

This has been my experience as well. I'm 27. I was 24 when my son was born. I'm by far the youngest mom in my son's preschool group. Quite a few are in their late 40s; one is 50. Most are at least mid-30s. Many of them treat me as if I'm a teenager, which makes me :.

How old are your kids now? about to turn 7, 5, 3 and 1

How old are your friends? 22-30 ish... many are just starting their families though or are single

oh and I just moved to from CO to NM so I really don't have any friends here yet but I think I can relate to people older or younger so I'm not concerned about age.

I have about the same stats as you.

I'll be 30 in a couple months. My kids are 8, 4, and 6mo. I was 21 with my first.

I'm usually the youngest mom at my 8 year olds events. Most of my friends are a little older.

I am noticing that the moms in my 4 year old's class are closer to my age. I think that most people think I'm older because I have a third grader.

How old were you when you started having kids? I was 21 when I got pg with DD1, 22 when she was born.
How old are your kids now? 13, 11.5, and 6
How old are your friends? Since becoming an adult, I've found that I have a lot in common with other parents of kids the same ages as my kids, regardless of our actual ages. I have very little in common with people my own age who haven't yet married or had children. For the most part, many of my friends are older than me because I had my first kids so young. But now I have some friends who's oldest kids are around the same age as my youngest, and these people tend to be closer to my age. I don't even know how old most of my friends are- it's just not something that comes up in conversation very often!

BTW, I'm mostly talking about aquantances. My one close friend is about 5 years older than me.

I think it can be hard to make the leap from acquaintance to friend, especially amongst moms I see only once a week for a short period of time. I had a hard time making friends when my kids were babies, because all of the moms I knew were so much older than me and didn't have much in common. But I've realized, as my kids have aged, that common interests/outlooks on life are far more important than age. And for me, it takes awhile for me to become good friends with someone. I would have a hard time making friends with someone I saw every week for 6 weeks (not enough time), but I have made friends with people I saw every week for 6 months.

How old are your kids now? Almost 4, just turned 2 and 3 months.
How old are your friends? The few friends I have IRL are in their 20s.

We are in a transition stage and only living here for a couple of months but once we finally move to Austin I'm hoping to make more friends. I'm always the youngest in mom groups and I don't usually tell people my age because they treat me differently. I'm hoping that isn't going to be the case after we move.

I was 20 when DD1 was born, I'm now 25, and the DD's are 5 and 1. I don't have any friends younger then I am, so I'd say 25-45. Most of my friends are quite a bit older then I am.
