It does not seem to be illegal to ditch a pregnant woman without 30 days notice, though. The document does make it clear that it's a violation of ethics guidelines, that it "may" be considered patient abandonment and therefore grounds for malpractice, and "could" lead to a loss of license. That's all good to know and potentially useful, especially if I lose a dice roll and wind up with the one member of my practice who likes to play the "baby could DIE" card every five minutes.
I still don't see anything in the document that says it's not legal for them to terminate our relationship. It just says that the ethical guidelines for the medical profession are on the side of the patient, and I really appreciate you helping me to be better informed!
