If things could be any crazier, I don't want to know!

So, new baby son (no name yet) was born, oh, 40ish hours ago. The morning after he was born, I noticed dd1 had some spots on her neck. I knew immediately it was chickenpox, as she had gone over for a playdate a couple weeks ago at a friend's whose little sister, we later found out, had it. I actually had wanted her to get it, but the timing was a little off. : So now she's in the thick of it. I'm just waiting for her sister to get it, too. Dh was supposed to have the week off, but now his boss acts like they never said he could have the week off and want him back at work asap. Dh is afraid they'll fire him if he doesn't go in. MIL could come over to help me if dh does have to work, but now she won't because she can't remember if she had chickenpox and she doesn't want to take the risk of getting it. I have several friends who would usually invite my girls over to play with their kids to give me a break, but, of course, no one wants to be exposed to the chickenpox, so that's out, too. I'm feeling pretty calm through all this, although I am pretty p.o.ed at dh's boss. It's not the first time they've done something similar. Oh, well, I'm feeling like the adjustment to having 3 kids will go well. If I can stay calm through this, then I'll be fine.

I think this would be an excellent time for your DH to get CP. I'm so sorry this is happening, but you sound so calm and sorted, I'm sure it will go well.
How bad are the kids? Is the whinginess over yet, or is it just starting?

Oooh Binah, I'm so sorry to hear about the girls and your poor DH. What a jerk his boss is! I'm truly impressed at your ability to stay calm during this time, you are an inspiration. Keep up the good work mama, if you stay calm, I'm sure it will all work out just fine.

Your calm attitude is soooo awesome! I would be swearing up a storm! Maybe the little girl that gave you guys the chickenpox can take your kids for a couple hours?

DHs boss.. that is just mean.. just mean. No other words just mean. UGH

Hope your day goes ok.

HUGS

Oh, Binah... so sorry to hear about your daughter and DH's boss. That is so much to be dealing with so soon after having your new baby. Sending you lots of love and healing vibes so that your family can get through this easily.

Jeez, what a butthead boss! Your attitude is really great, though. Hang in there, mama!

I agree with Helen, I think your DH just came down with the cicken pox!! That does stink but you sound like you are handling it amazingly!! Good and peaceful thoughts coming your way. (It may take a little time to get them all the way to Australia though!)

I tried to expose the girls last summer for that reason, I didn't want them getting it *now.* They didn't get it despite sharing drinks with a few kids right before spots came out, playing together after spots came out, etc :

Mazel tov on your new baby boy. Just think this is one of those things you will look back on and laugh one day. Remember when X was born and the girls had pox and what timing that was! Gam Zu L'Tova You are amazing for being able to cope!

Can your husband stay home on FMLA basis? I know that FMLA only applies to companies of a certain size and I don't know how big your dh's company is... but if he's taking time off because of your new baby and because the other two kids are sick, that falls under FMLA and they CAN'T fire him--it's illegal. The only thing I can think that would be a downside to this is that he might not get paid, unless he has enough PTO accrued to cover FMLA leave.

She's in Australia, FMLA is a US thing. Otherwise you are absolutely right!

Oh, mama. Your poor kiddos, and you, and DH.

Your DH's boss is really unreasonable! (you should be proud of the nice word I choose) I think DH would be hiding the phones from me so I wouldn't call his boss and use some of the less nice words I have in my head.
