But it wasn't for the baby, and thankfully she is turning out to be a good traveler.
DD#1 thought it would be a good idea to tie her and #2 together with a playsilk (one of the long scarf ones) and slide down our steep narrow stairs - "like a train" (we live in an old farm house and the stairs are carpeted wood with 2 90degree turns in them - one in the middle and one at the bottom). Well, when A hit the bottom of the stairs and went around the corner, G was knocked off her feet/bottom and went head first into the wooden banister and newel post. I heard the hit and cry and knew someone was hurt and by the time I got to the bottom of the stairs (I was in the kitchen) there was blood gushing from the side of her head and she was panicking (she HATES blood). After getting her cleaned up a bit, it was obvious she needed stitches (cut about 2 in long and 1/2 in wide along her hairline. DH was not home from work yet, so I called our neighbor to come stay with the other 2 girls while I drove the hour to the small county hospital (the only thing we do there is minor injuries (stitches, broken bones), because they have a bad rep for major things). luckily I met dh on the road and he came with me.
G did really well, esp with her Dr Phobia, and ended up with 8 stitches. In my hurry to leave the house I ended up forgetting the diaper bag, which meant I had no wallet, diapers, or sling. I was glad dh was with me he held G while I sat in a nice comfy office chair and nursed the baby almost the whole time we were there. There is no dr at the hospital on eve/weekends, so we had to wait while they called him in, but he was great with G when he got there.
Baby O did great and slept almost the whole time in the car (almost hour each way), after already spending 3 hours in the car while SIL and I went to town and did errands and had lunch (our first real outing - it was nice)
Needless to say, today we are staying home and watching movies today and hoping for a little less excitement.
