Anyone else feeling, umm lonely today?

Okay excuse me for this emotional post, but this is the first child I had to do this with and I feel soo happy for her that she has reached this milestone but also a bit lonely without her by my side.

My oldest "Baby" (if she heard me call her a baby I would get MOOOMMMMM LOL) went to school for the first time today. ALL DAY she will be gone
She is going to do great and is having a blast I am sure. She was ssooooo excited to be going. But i am sooooo well Lonesome:

Soo anyone else send off their baby for the first time today??

Hang in there, Mama You know, I have that feeling every year when my kids start school. I now have a 4th grader and a 1st grader (along with my 3 year old at home), and this year was very hard for me because my 1st grader now eats lunch at school and does not get out till 2:00, and my son at 3:00. I walked around with a lump in my throat all day, and tried to call a few people to commiserate with me, but all the other moms are just glad to have the freedom!

The good news is that we will both get use to this new routine. Change is hard. I have never been one for having babysitters (I think dh and I have seen about 4 movies total since our son was born 9 years ago!) so when my kids are gone all day it feels like losing an arm.

I know my kids are thriving in their school too. At least we can take comfort in that. They are growing and stretching their wings, and need to do that. Try and keep busy--I cleaned both of my bathrooms and mopped my kitchen floor the first day of school here . Also--take care of YOU. Have a little treat today just for you.

Hey, check with me tomorrow, when my dd goes for her first day of all-day school: from about 8:30 to 3:15...it's gonna be a long day.
I second the keep busy thing, and I figure that giving myself "assignments" to ease her day does that. Like I plan and pack her lunches, and we shopped together for supplies and talked about the fun food combos I've planned. And I'll need to plan some snacks for teatime when she comes home, and drag out my knitting (she wants me to sit on her bed doing crafts while she does homework).
We're a little attached, can you tell?
I also have taken on a pretty hefty assingment that requires lots of my brain to keep me busy during the time she is away. And DH (who works second shift) keeps telling me HE has some good ideas to while away my mornings.

Still, when did my darlin' babe get so big? She is dancing around my office now playing Princess Cimorene, visiting dragons and studying magic...Hard to picture this fairy child sitting in a desk all day tomorrow...
