I'm buying one of these two books for my upcoming doula training. Which one is your favourite?

I use both, honestly, so I'd strive to have a copy of each. but if I had to pick it'd be kitzinger.

I voted Other.

I'd go with TWG, it's like my default book for all things birth related.

I like Kitzingers The Complete Guide because it has clearly writen, concise information...like the explination of RH neg is great and the differnt sections on baby's developement are great too. It covers home and hospital birth and water birth with plenty of pix and the pix are of diverse populations.

Is "new" the same as the complete guide? I have the complete guide, as well as pregnancy, childbirth and the newborn, and while I've read the complete guide, I've barely flipped through the other. I love the kitzinger book for the same reason as PP, it's all easy to understand without being dumbed down, with good references, and I feel like I have everything in one book.

Thanks, everyone!

What's TWG?

The THinking Woman's Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth by Henci Goer.

If I do hospital labor support I recommend Ina May's Guide, TWG and Kitzingers Complete Book... These cover all the bases...Ina May with empowering birth stories and the big issues to consider, TWG for hard statistical backup and reenforcement of big issues and the general best overall pregnancy book by Kitzinger.

Just my humble opinion.

Kitzinger is my fave. Well balanced, beautiful pictures. Not fear factor (her comments in the twins section are awesome). It's my #1 choice to loan out!
