*August 2007 Babies* - Happy Half Birthday!

OK so I posted a February thread with the same title... but something happened to it. The server ate it?

Anyhoo...
Bridget is great, she is the happiest, smiliest baby. She is about 15 lbs. She rolls over quite a bit and sits by herself for a few seconds. She seems really eager to get crawling.

Trent is great with her, although he has started to become possessive of his things, now that she is so interested and grabby!

I gave her a wee taste of sweet potato off my finger a few nights ago, and she seemed into it, she sucked pretty hard on my finger. Contemplating rice cereal. Anyone else started solids?

haven't started solids yet, but planning on doing so soon!!

Wow!! 6 months!!!

We started solids a month ago, ds wasn't sitting unassited, but whatevah! He was grabbing food off my plate, so we went ahead and man, he loves to eat! It also helped our bf relationship (he was screaming and frustrated at most feedings at that point). We do purees, and I wasn't careful about waiting to introduce foods one by one, we don't have allergies. Oh, banana, yes it is constipating, and definately give some water with each meal to help constipation (ds got slowed down the first week or two and is now very regular, ie. daily, again). Also the first week I gave a tablespoon of diluted warm prune juice, it sometimes cramped him a bit, but it did help to keep him moving).

He got weighed and was 19.6lbs at 5 months and in the 98%. He's not fat by any means, just a solid guy! (Which to me explains why he's so hungry)

He's sitting on his own now for maybe 10 seconds or so, still rolling, crawls in a circle, and looks like he's getting close to figuring out crawling very soon.

Sleep is improving (go NCSS!) and I'll be going back to work in 4 weeks, only very PT, but yikes!

Hope everyone is well and glad this thread got started!

We are not there yet, but soon! Logan is 6 months, but a month early leaves him @ just 5 months calculated. But he is learning to move around a bit!!!
Rostik can sit up by himself for any length of time now.

We haven't started any solids. He watches us eat, and then reaches for things, but when we give them to him he just mushes them around with his hands.

He manages to travel on the floor. I put him in his baby gym, and come back and he is in a different part of the room. He can't really crawl because his clothes are too slippery on the wood floors, but he can use his hands to get a bit of traction and slide himself around.

Recently he suddenly became unable to sleep swaddled. But when we tried to sleep unswaddled, his hands were moving all over trying to feel textures, and he kept waking himself up and preventing himself from falling back asleep. We just had to wait that out. It was a miserable few days. He kept waking up when he wanted to be asleep, and he was whining with his eyes squeezed shut while his hands were sliding along the blankets. That is getting dramatically better, but in our run-down state we caught DH's cold. I got it really bad.

I have never posted in "August Mama's" before, so here goes.

My ds is August (we call him Gus) and he loves FOOD! We started letting him have tastes a little early but figured what the heck. He does well with the mesh self feeder, I got him teething biscuits for his half birthday, and he can self feed those, he loves everything we've given him so far, squash, sweet potatoes, prunes, bannanas, apples, pears, avocado, potato, carrot, cereal, i think that's it i don't remember, oh yeah mango.

He rolls around a lot, and really wants to be mobile, but can't figure it out yet.

I weighed him today and he is 23 lbs 4.5oz, so he's a big guy, I don't know how long he is, but he's tall too.

Orion is HUGE! At his four month appt he was 19lbs 5oz. I can't get over the size of him.

He's showing many signs of being ready to eat (including crying if he sees his father and I at the table....) but I am pushing him off as he's had some trouble with food allergies. Statistically, he's got a better chance of outgrowing them if I wait until six months to feed him. (He won't be six months til the 29th)

Orion manages to get around the room too... on his back. I'm not sure how yet as he tends to do it when I'm out of the room. He's still not rolling back to front yet, which I'm finding frustrating as he's soooooo close. I sit at the computer watching him and start cheering... "Come on, you can do it..." *sigh* I'm not worried, I'm sure we'll get there...

Do we have any crawlers yet? The two year old I look after once a week has been coaching Orion if I put him on his tummy. "Look Orion, like this! Let's go!"

today elu grabbed a chunk of garlicy yam off my plate and ate it!!
well, most of it he just smeared on his pants and in my hair.
he seemed really pleased with himself.

i guess he swallowed some because six or seven hours later,
there it was in the potty! little orange yam bits looking up at me!
i was pretty freaked out before i remembered the yam incident.

it's kind of like when you forget you ate beets and you think you
need to go to the emergency room for a few seconds.

Glad to see you restarted the thread!

John has been rolling back to front for about a week and just started front to back - but not pushing up, he uses his legs. He also did hi first flip on the changing pad yesterday. Loves to stand with us holding him for balance. He sits unassisted for very short periods. No solids yet, but I've been cup training and he actually drank not lapped today! I bout his a sippy cup yesterday. He is very interested in watching me eat, and wants to have it, but isn't really grabbing fo rit yet. And, we have sensitivities. I'm on week #2 of a TED - but it's all good with me for now!

He's a very happy, smiley baby - we love him to pieces! He was 17 pounds, 25-1/2 inches at his 4 mo wbv. He's grown at least an inch but haven't weight him. He has slimmed down a bit, but still has those thigh rolls, just not as many!

I have a question about poop. John is still pooping 3-4 times a day, but it is all liquid. It all soaks in the cloth dipe. Just turning mucousy; may be a result of the TED. Brownish yellow in color. Any other similar? He's drooling a lot still (no teeth yet.)

Here are some pics taken at 4 months.

No solids yet I haven't tried. Although DH was holding DS the other night and he reached for my refried beans. I let DS grab them just to watch DH squeal and try to dodge the gooey hand. It was worth it .

We almost have crawling. DS has been doing the inch worm for about a week now. He is into everything and really fast considering how he gets around. His poor head is all beat up from falling though. He is trying to sit himself up and keeps falling and bashing his head on things. I try to move him when I can but he picks the most inopportune moments to practice.

Hi everyone. Luna is doing great! She weighs 16.5 pounds and sits up unassisted for long periods of time. She's nibbling solids: sweet potato, applesauce and oatmeal so far. She likes it, but doesn't eat much of it. Mostly she just still wants the booby. No crawling yet and very little rolling. She pretty much hates to be on her back.
I'm still trying to lose the weight. I was doing well until I spent 4 weekends in a row at my parent's house and gained 6 pounds. Seems like all I do there is eat. Sheesh!
Hey, has there been another forum started someplace besides the one that the July mamas started? It seems like hardly anyone posts on here anymore.

How great to read all the updates on the August Babies! And loving the pics. If I could figure out posting, I would post some links ....

Cujobunny's picture made me think of a question for you all: Have your babies' eyes changed color yet?

Teo's eyes are starting to change a little. From birth his eyes were denim blue. now some green is starting to creep in a little from the middle outward.

Teo weighs 7.445 kilos ( 16.38 lbs.), meanwhile my 5.5 y.o. weighs 39 lbs! He is rolling and creeping, sits in his high chair now. He's been eating bananas for about 3 weeks, and I've let him suck on apple slices, and put apple in his mesh feeder to chew on. He was not very excited about avocado today. But, he is all about the bananas!

He is teething like crazy, drooling like a faucet. He's just getting over his first cold

All good here in other words

Hi All!

Good to hear how the other August babies are doing.

Oliver is doing great, at least during the day! Nighttimes are hard right now. For awhile he was a pretty good sleeper--he woke a few times to eat but would go right back to sleep. Now he is waking up thrashing and miserable and not always wanting to eat. I think he's working on tooth number 3, though, so hopefully things will get better when that comes in. He goes for his WBV next week so we'll see how big he is, but he feels huge--I think the 6 month growth spurt just happened.

He is sitting up really well, rolling lots, and trying hard to crawl. He had a rash for a few days, and I've kind of suspected allergies for a bit, so I cut out dairy, soy, nuts, peanuts, wheat, eggs, and a few other things that my protein-starved brain can't think of... That was two weeks ago, so I'm starting to add things slowly back in. Eggs are back--yea! I'm excited to start some solids with him, but I'm going to wait until I'm done messing with my own diet, I guess. He's really interested in food, though, and loves to sip out of a glass of water.

Twilight Girl--yes, his eyes went from slate blue to dark brown like mine. Now he actually looks a little more like me!

Pokeymamma--Oliver's poop has always been really watery. A LC I talked to said that can be a sign of foremilk/hindmilk imbalance, but can also just be normal. We have been block feeding forever, so I'm guessing it's just normal for my guy. The mucus can be from a food sensitivity, but can also be if he's swallowing a lot of drool from teething or mucus from a cold. My doc also said it's just normal for some babies, but I'm not sure I believe her, hence the elimination diet on my part!

Happy half birthday to all the babies and mammas!

I can not believe they are six months old!! Time is flying by, and I wish I had a minute to catch my breath and enjoy it all.

Ruby is about 14 and a half or so pounds, my little thing(compared to her last three siblings), She smiles ALL the time, and is sort of trying to sit up(I seriously think she has too many people holding her LOL). She has had banana two or three times when I didn't get time to pump milk when I had to leave her for class, and I am trying to get her to take a sippy cup since she didn't really take to the bottle too well, I figure why get her hooked on the bottle at this point. I am renting a double electric pump from the WIC office so hopefully that will help to make sure she gets enough milk. I lvoe her, she gets me through the days lately, and she sleeps so well at night.

It is so exciting to see everyones babies.

Hey mamas! I love the updates!

Bodhi is doing great-rolling and sitting and about to crawl. He got big quick- last I weighed he was over 20 pounds. He has 2 cute teeth (that were not so cute comming in. I dread the rest.)

We just started giving him solids last week- he literally freaked out. Laughing and screaming and grabbing our fingers to put the food in his mouth. He has been a little constipated on and off, though.

Sleep is not so great here- on a good night he's up every 2-4 hours. On a bad night- 1-2 hours with sleepless times inbetween and awake at 5am. sigh. We're trying to get him to take longer naps and have a consistent bedtime routine. I was hoping solids might help. Luckily my dh is helpful with the nighttime wakings, otherwise I would be out of my mind.

I can't tell if his eyes are going to change- they have been blue with some brown (like mine) for months.

Baby still has very blue eyes. I hope he keeps them! I tell him every day that he will make me cry if his eyes turn brown.
