After 12 hours of spaced out contractions, and another 12 hours of really intense labor, Zaine Alexandra is here!
She's sweet and chubby and figuring out how to nurse.
20inches long, 14.5 inch head and chest, and 8lbs13oz
Born at 9:45am on Feb 5 at our local birth center after a few hiccups..
We arrived at midnight - I was having intense contractions - and turns out I was already 6cm.. yey. I thank Hypnobabies for that progress.
Once we arrived the contractions stayed intense.. I labored on the bed for a couple of hours, hopped in the tub for a couple of hours, and then back out to the room to move around.. I moaned and groaned and yelled through the whole thing. I was getting really tired and frustrated at the lack of progress, and my ability to handle it all, because I stalled at 9cm+ for 4 and a half hours! That's a lot of transition... bah.
Finally the midwife checked me for some lip, and noticed that even though the baby was very low, there was still a bag of waters - even though we thought it had already broken. Apparently the internal membrane hadn't broken. I begged her to go ahead and break it, which apparently she never does. After another hour of intense attempts at moving the baby down - I tried EVERY position possible! I finally got to push. Two hours (of roaring) later, and a third degree tear, she arrived. I couldn't have done it without those midwives letting me labor, and encouraging me.. but wow, tough!! Now on to the babymoon
We're back at home, and falling in love..
