I have been sick the last few days coughing alot with a bad cold and now my throat is killing me. Are there any natural remedies that might help

I like two remedies when my throat is sore. I'm not pregnant, so I hope if something in this is inappropriate for pregnant women you'll let me know.

1. Gargle with warm salt water.
2. Drink a heated mixture of fresh-squeezed lemon juice and honey (you don't need a lot). You can also have honey and lemon in tea, of course, but I like the concentrated dose of just honey and lemon.

A spoonful of straight honey (raw is better) will help the cough. I also like Thayer's slippery elm lozenges. And vitamin C, I think something like 2,000 units a day will help any kind of cold get better faster. Take care, mama.

Tea with lots of honey. I like peppermint tea. Plus this keeps you hydrated.

I've used the Thayer's slippery elm lozenges and while they work they taste nasty.
