Ziplocks

Does anyone know if they can be recycled with the other plastic bags in the bin at the grocery store?

I know i would have to cut the zipper off. I re-use them until I can't they are breaking down, and only use them for freezing food. It would be great if I could recycle.

I have asked at the store and no one seems to know.

Thanks,
Maggie

Ziplock is polyethylene plastic and grocery bags are HDPE (high density polyethylene plastic) so I am not sure. Anything marked 2 or 4 can be recycled with the grocery bags (ie bread bags). I believe sandwich (ziplock bags) are a 4.

I found this....I guess you can recycle them:

and this:

From ziploc.com:

"Ziploc® Brand bags are made of polyethylene plastic and are recyclable under the plastic recycling number 4."

Thanks Mara232! I really appreciate the replies.

You have responded with what I thought, but I read once from someone on here that if you put the wrong bags in the bin that you have runined the entire batch or something like that. So I got nervous that I was making a mistake.

I am happy that they can be rinsed and recycled when I know longer want to re-use.
