Does active in the womb=active out?

I have a VERY active little one incubating here in my rapidly expanding belly. I have a girlfriend with two children, one was very active in the womb and one was very quiet. This translated to their personalities after they were born, one was very active and high maintenance, the other was mellow and easy.

What has been your experience?

Not in your DDC, but my first was more active in the womb, and out!

Hmmm, I don't know. I guess we'll find out in a few weeks. Both of my babies have been pretty chill in utero and my daughter stayed that way. I'm hoping this one does too!

As someone said to me receently when I was wondering what the correlation might be: "Your baby's the same person out that they are in." I laughed and said, "So basically my baby will just be lying there kicking and squirming for 45 minutes out of every hour?" We'll see...my mom said she thought she was carrying a football team during her pregnancy with me, & I was quite the active tot...

My Mom's experience was the opposite... I was a very active baby, but very mellow out of the womb. My sister was mellow in but super wiggly out! So I don't think we can be sure.

My friends say they've had a good correlation... and boy, am I in trouble

That is an interesting question... never thought of it!

For us, DS was rather mellow inside... he was the slow stretcher poker and he is the most active little boy!!! So for us, it was the opposite! Maybe I should make a pseudo-womb for him now... and that can be his "quiet place!" ahhahah!

ds was VERY active in the womb- people would watch my whole stomach move and contort when I was in class. He was awake and active when I was awake and active and slept when I slept. He is still a very active child (when we go to the park or outside in the yard all he wants to do is run, run, run, go down the slide a couple times, pick a few berries, then run, run, run!) and seems to have "mama ESP" he won't go to sleep unless I'm tired and falling asleep too and we always wake up within minutes of each other.

I can't wait to see how this little boy is- he isn't all that active except at night...and he is very shy- if anyone touches my belly other than myself, dp, or ds1 he immediately freezes and won't move until they take their hand away!

Mine has turned out to be much more mellow now that he out. Sleeps a lot and heavy. I have noticed that he is most awake at the same time I could count on feeling him move every day.

not in your ddc either, but my most active in the womb is definately my most active out, and my most mellow in is my most mellow out.

Well, my dd1 was a wiggly little monkey in the womb, and she's CRAZY out!!! Climbing everything in sight. Never slept, still doesn't at almost 3 years old. Very very active, inquisitive kid.

And this one is even MORE wiggly in the womb, so I'm terrified for when she comes out!!!

Oh dear, I'm in trouble aren't I?

I posed this question to my dad last night and he said, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree". According to him I was an insanely active child and so he suspects my child will be too.

I guess that means I won't be the only one in trouble though, since many of you mamas are experiencing the same thing .

Levi was very laid back inside and seems to be very laid back outside, too (once we got past the first week of him figuring out how to deal with being outside...)

I've heard that the activity times will usually correlate in and out, which I'm hoping is true. My baby seems most active during the day at regular intervals and is usually more quiet at night. My mom said both my brother and I slept through the night very early on. The flip side of that, though, is we rarely napped! I guess we'll find out soon enough!

My most active in utero is still my most active child.

I felt DD kick for the first time at about 20 weeks, and from then on it was constant Kung Fu for the duration of the pregnancy. I even called my midwife in a panic when I was about 37 weeks because I hadn't felt her move for two whole hours and it was freaking me out. She had two fairly chilled out weeks after she as born, then emerged the twirling, climbing Tasmanian Devil that she is today. She is 3 years old and isn't even still in her sleep!

So yes, I would say in Izzy's case, she was just as active in as she was out.

This next baby seems very calm, I'm praying he stays that way!

Since this babe rarely moves much at all, and is still all through the night as well... I'm hoping there is a correlation.
