Mamas, I've removed a couple of namecalling posts and one inviting people to comment on the comments--both are against the UA.

Thanks!

According to the link someone else provided, he has 5 kids. If I were his wife, I'd be too tired to want to make any more, especially since there's a set of twins in there too. I agree also that there seems to be some serious projecting going on with this doc who doesn't even follow the recommendations of the professional organization he belongs to. At least there were five scientific arguments for extended bf to the one uninformed personal opinion against. That was so hard trying to describe the against side without a UAV. I think that it was pretty cool that they cited so many groups that support breastfeeding beyond a year and only one decenter.

I don't know anything about Dr. Hillary Jones...other than he makes me want to vomit repeatedly.

However, I am good friends with Jenny Allen the mother interviewed for the show. She is an absolutely amazing mother and her two little girls are gorgeous!

She wasn't sure if she wanted to do the show or not. I'm really glad she did though.

That dude has merely displayed not only his gross ignorance to the world, I think we now all know his problem He's one of those guys who can't get over the fact that the biological purpose of boobs is to feed babies, and any other use is imposed and secondary. He WISHES boobs were only made to play with. :P
BOO!
I'd fire him for that, personally.

Thanks for that--Jenny was wonderful! Really impressed with how knowledgeable she was, especially quoting various organizations and tidbits of information (like about immunity after he said he wasn't buying it). I had to snicker at the guy saying, "There's nothing wrong with that," over and over, yet using words like "bizarre, unusual and not necessary" to describe breastfeeding over ONE year.

Yeah, I really enjoy interrupting my sleep 4-5 times a night to nurse a toddler with a less than perfect latch and stopping whatever I'm doing throughout the day to give my DS the boob. But I'm a masochist. It wouldn't be because I want the best for my child, no, no, no.... :

My first thought upon seeing that was "I bet his kids are formula fed."

For those Mamas not familiar with Hillary Jones, he's like the UK version of Oprah's Dr Oz
I thought the article was very well-balanced though.
