I'm having a problem trying to figure out what papers to keep and which to throw away and for how long ( if any) should I keep them?

Ok here is my list:

Explanation of Benefits( from hospital)
Utility Statements
CC Statements of more than a yr.

I'm just tired of all the paper!!!! What should I absolutely keep (like bank statements).

I don't know what you "should" do but I'll tell you what I do with those three:

EOBs I don't keep because I can get them online. In fact, it's easier for me to look at them online because they're all organized in a way that makes it easy to compare them to the doctor bills. So I toss them almost immediately.

Utility Statements and Credit Card Bills - I keep three years' worth. But they're not that fat. I have hanging files that say "paid bills" and there's a manila folder for each quarter "Jan-Mar 2008," "Apr-Jun 2008" etc. When I pay my bills (including cc bills and utility bills) I just throw the stubs into the appropriate file. I have files made up for 2008, 2009, and 2010. At the end of 2008, I'll empty the four folders for 2005, toss the contents, and re-label them 2011. This is just my system, but I have no idea what you "should" do, you know?
