FOs: Socks for me & baby

I've surrendered to both my yarn and sock addictions.
The first socks I ever knit with magic loop and yarn that I like to call string. Opal sock yarn. They were going to be crew socks, but I really hate the colorway, so I thought they looked good at the ankles. I bought the yarn because it was cheap (in comparison) and it was there (at the LYS) the night I decided to try socks.

Baby socks made from Opal "natural" that I dyed with Kool Aid

And, in an effort to get socks to actually stay on a baby, I made longer sockies for my little guy. Yarn is from Knitivity. LOVE IT & LOVE THE SERVICE! http://www.knitivity.com/downHomeSOCKS.html

I made the two pair of baby socks after I started my socks and before I finished my socks. I didn't realize how big my feet are!

great looking socks! What pattern did you use for the baby socks?

The rainbow socks are made to her pattern. The black & red socks have several inches added to the cuff. The pattern as it is calls for 16 rows of rib and that turns out to be not nearly enough IMO. The socks fall off constantly. Adding enough length for knee socks allows for them to be knee socks or folded down for a folded cuff. They stay on much better.

Very cute! I think of opal as string, too, but comfortable & long-lasting string!
