Bad Pain

Thread Starter
A couple nights ago; I kept waking up with really bad pains in my lower tummy (and if I had to guess, I'm assuming it's where the ovaries are). I went to the doctor's about this (I was pregnant at the time, but it went undetected) and was sent to an ultrasound (which is where we confirmed the pregnancy) to find out the cause. Test results showed nothing.

I can't even describe it to you. Most nights, when I wake up in the middle of the night because I have to pee; after peeing the pain is relieved, but it's still there and if I cough or move wrong, it hurts.

Any idea's on what this is?

Are you sure it isn't a UTI? In pregnancy they can feel different. I'd go have a urinalysis to rule out any thing like that. Also, it could be round ligament pain as well. Hope you get it figured out!

I have a doctor's appointment on the 14th. Every time I go, they test my pee; but I'm not sure what for. Is this one of the tests they do, or do I need to request it?

(I'm in Canada, if that matters any)

Also, my sister suggested kidney stones...any thoughts on this? (ETA: It's not kidney stones. I just looked up the symptoms, and I don't relate to that whatsoever)

I don't know about the peeing part but the coughing and moving wrong sounds exactly like my round ligament pain. I hope you are pain-free soon!

Sounds like round ligament pains to me too.. Especially the relief after you go pee.. that's how it is for me too.

Yep, def. round ligament pain. You're stretching!

When I have UTI's in pregnancy I get no pain, as compared to when I'm not pregnant and it's very painful.

If you pee in a cup, yes they do check for UTI's

I hope you feel better soon.... I've wondered where you've been!!

It sounds like the ligament pain everyone else described - I've had it too, it's just excrutiating sometimes. My heart goes out to you, mama...

I haven't been in this forum much because I'm dealing with some serious crap in my life; aside from this, I mean. Praying with all I've got that it passes soon.

About this ligament pain....this pain started happening within like week two of my pregnancy. Is that possible?

I've been getting pain sort of like that too.
Mostly in the middle of the night when I wake up to go to the bathroom. It's like I have to pee so bad, and once I do I can feel the pressure going away and with it the pain. I was pretty worried about it at first, but it got better when I peed, so I didn't worry so much.
Sometimes I feel it during the day, but only if I'm kept from the bathroom to long.

My guess is that it's just bladder pressure mixed with a big o'l uterus. Maybe some round ligament pain thrown in for good measure.

I got an UTI in my tubes last time I was pregnant.

Your urine is not tested for infection during your appointments. So, yes, you would have to ask for a test for an UTI.

Till then there are things you can do that will not hurt even if you don't have an UTI. Crandophilis is a good supplement that includes cranberry and acidophilis. It worked well for me last time.

Drinking more water and cutting out sugars can help as well.

Ok; I had the test for a UTI done; and it was negative. Plus; the pains have lessened significantly. Y'all were probably right about the stretching. But HOLY JEEZ I did NOT like that whatsover.

I have the same pains, and they started at about week 3 of this pregnancy. I think it is round ligament pain and sometimes it is gas.
