I think my water broke an hour ago..

And having it happen once at home, and twice at the hospital.. you'd think I'd know if it was or not, but um.. I'm not sure.

I woke up at 6:30 to see if my daughter had school today.. she doesn't. I went back to bed to lay down with the other two. They woke up shortly after, so I turned on Noggin for them and was watching Fireman sam. I heard a weird noise, like a spring sound.. and thought, that was weird. Then I felt wet. I sat up and looked down and the bed is soaked underneath me.

I grabbed a towel and went to the bathroom but there were no gushes or anything else. It doesn't smell like urine, but doesn't smell really strongly like anything. I urinated in the bathroom normally.

I am having contractions that are real ones that I'm feeling in my back, nothing painful yet.. but they're there. These are the real thing I know that. I am still on the fence. Did I really pee myself while I was wide awake, not coughing, not being jumped on? Or did my water break? And why don't I know this by now??? With my first baby my water broke and woke me up, but it was continually gushing when I stood up so it was obvious. And it leaked out all the time. This one isn't.
I'm confused.

Guess I'll just hang out here for awhile. Figures, the roads are so bad they canceled school too.

Sounds like your water broke to me. How are you doing now?

Still contracting. My husband ran out to get a money order for the rent so we don't get kicked out of this place already after just moving in. LOL He has called me three times and he's only been gone 10 minutes.

My kids are screaming at each other and running around mostly naked. I strangely don't feel the need to yell at them at all.

I realized, that if this is it... if this is the real thing.. it will be so strange. All of mine were born at night. I'm not used to this kind of labor.

I haven't leaked pee on myself this entire pregnancy.. why would I suddenly gush pee all over the bed? Especially since I had already gone pee a 1/2 hour earlier when I got up, and again peed right after this "gush" in bed. So strange.

Sounds like it to me!!!!!!!!!

SOmetimes after the water breaks the baby's little head and "plug" it if you are in certain positions. So when you sit it might leak, but stand and not leak.. etc etc

OOH I am excited for you!

HOw is your new apartment? Where are you now? I thought southern ME (I am midcoast area in Bath)

Oh, and IMHO I wouldn't call OB to tell your water breaks (UNLESS you see meconium).. some have a STRICT hospital policy- deliver in 24 hours or C-section.. With DS the birth Center rule was 48 hours, their hospital was 36 hours, DS was born at hospital transfer 34 hours. SOOOOO I would hang on and calll when contractions pick up..

Keep us posted!

Definitely sounds like water breakage to me!

I agree, this sounds like water breaking. Personally I'd try doing just what Linda said and see if more water leaks or not. Stand then sit, lay down, get up. Some movement should be enough to let a little more water out without moving the baby enough to risk something like a prolapsed cord. Good luck today!! :

How exciting! I hope this is it for you! And I can totally relate to the strangeness of the possibility of birthing during the day - I usually only labor at night when everyone is asleep and give birth in the very early - mid morning.

Keep us updated if you can! :

Yup. Waters gone. Sit down and stop contracting for 12 hours, then have a baby after you put the girls to bed. Job done

Its daytime here, fwiw, so your uterus is on the right timeline somewhere in the world. I know what you mean though- it felt seriously strange labouring at night.

What are you in denial!!!! I am so excited for you too, I like the fact that you said that you don't feel like yelling at your screaming Dc's, I am hoping I feel the same way when it all goes down! Yay!!!!! : ELV's mama!!!!!

Do you normally make a popping sound when you pee? That was your bag of waters, or I'm a chimp! I'm excited to hear how this progresses! :

I dunno! I guess it does sound like I'm in denial.. but geesh.. I've tried everything to get more to come out and though sometimes it feels tricklish.. nothing much seems to come out? Still contracting and they don't feel great, but nothing that painful yet.

How can the 4th baby be the one I'm not 100% sure about?
the first and second births can be more predictable, from what i have heard so maybe the fourth just throws people for a loop.

hope things stay gentle for you today!

Oh Nature, it sounds like it to me!! :::: I'm sure I'd be in denial too, it's just such a varied thing, giving birth! My mom did it 8 times and each was different for her, so I imagine 4 times can be too!! Good luck to you!!

After my water broke her head must have jammed up the opening because I never had a single trickle after the initial gush either, no matter what position I was in. But I had a baby a few hours later!! Gentle labor vibes coming your way!!

Oh- with River I'd stopped leaking, trickling, whatever you want to call it by the time I went to bed at 11pm. Waters went at 7.15, so presumably in that four hours his head moved down so much that nothing was getting past him :
