bh contraction craziness!

who else is getting these all day long? i know that can be "normal" but i've never had this many, this early before!

they aren't painful, and i feel nothing in my cervix area, so i'm not worried, but they are pretty strong at times, and happen very frequently! at least once or more an hour, usually.

I've gotten quite a few, but not all day long. And, they're still so faint, I don't really notice them too much.

Once or more an hour does sound like a lot. Do you have a care provider you want to call? If you feel like you should call, then you should! But, if you're feeling fine about then, then it probably is.

i'm going to mention it at my next appt in a couple weeks. i know i get them during the day while i'm up a lot, but they are usually pretty faint. i think last night was just a little extra crazy, and it's making me pay more attention. (having one right now actually)

maybe i need to drink more water or something?

Yes ma'am. I'm right there with you. They're frequent and quite strong. Not painful, but noticeable and at times a bit uncomfortable. I'm thinking I am going to get mighty tired of this, if they're this often this early - we have a long way to go!!

I know that being tired, stressed out, hungry and/or dehydrated can exacerbate them. And I've been all of the above (well, not as hungry as everything else) especially today.

i'm having a ton of them, along with pelvic pressure. i'm taking false unicorn root, cramp bark and wild yam to quiet them, as recommended by my m/w. but i also have a history of early dilation/preterm labor, so we have elected to be extra cautious.

I'm expecting my fourth baby as as you may know- they tend to happen more often and be more noticeable with subsequent pregnancies. I also have them several times a day- I agree with the other gals about more protein and clacium and lots of water. But there is also a term for it...can't recall the technical term but it's basically a reactive/sensitive uterus- tends to have a BH if doing alot of walking/exercise or lifting of smaller children or sometimes even rubbing your belly can cause a BH. Some women have it and some don't!I definitely notice an increase in mine when I'm doing alot of physical activities. It is most likely not a cause for concern-- it's not a bad thing at all. The baby moving inside can also cause the BH and coincidentally enough most women start to feel BH more around the time they begin to feel baby movements. Having several BH will not usually do anything to bring on a labor, unless there is a history of this. Usually lying down, emptying your bladder/drinking a ton (then emptying your bladder again..and again..) and eating something with protein will get them to subside. If you've done all that and still experience several more in the following hours, I'd have a question mark.

thanks for all the replies and reassurance that i'm normal! i had some with my ds at the end of the pregnancy, but i didn't realise what they were untill i was pregnant with my dd. lol with her i got lots more, but i don't think they started untill 5 or 6 months. but toward the end it was all day long it seemed! i still went over due, so they obviously weren't doing anything to bring on labor. so i guess if they get that much worse with each pregnancy, i shouldn't be so surprised. lol

interesting to hear about the reactive/sensitive uterus! i think when i get the most is after i've been busy and i lay down and i get one, so my hands are all over my belly, and then the baby moves, and i'm feeling all over again, and of course i'll get another. hmm...

i'm trying not to be concerned though, they don't feel like regular contractions. i can deffinately tell the difference between what these feel like and the labor contractions i had when i had my miscariage(at 3 months). those started off more gentle, but they were very regular and just felt different. (and ended up being almost worse than my last labor with full term dd!)

i've been trying to drink more water lately. i think i'm not getting enough. it's so hard to drink lately though! i just don't feel like any liquids and have to force them down.

oh yeah, i've been getting them. i got them while pg with dd too. i've noticed as others have said, i tend to get them more frequently and/or stronger when i'm stressed out (like when i'm doing the bills) or being more active (exercising or dd is playing the pick me up/put me down game). if they're so strong (just a lot of tightness, no cervical pain/pressure) that i have to take a break, then i definitely grab a water or some tea and kick my feet up for a bit. they're so obnoxious, aren't they?!?
